weird. another person i'd take thomas robinson over.
well they're desperate for a big
weird. another person i'd take thomas robinson over.
The two teams that have a chance of beating the Spurs don't have any good bigs.
We are talking here GSW and Cavs. So I'm not sure why we need another big.
But let's see how training camp sorts them out. We got Forbes, Arcidiacono, Garino and Richards going after the 15 spot. Garino seems to be more than happy to play in the D-league. Both Forbes and Arcidiacono have been paid enough to stick it out for a year. Richards may also be heading for the D-league.
Spurs are likely to leave the 15th spot open for a veteran. I don't see any of these rookies making this team this year.
Oh, I forgot... Laprovittola... he could make the team.
Richards squeezed into the elevator before Pop could push the "-> <-" button.
Odom 2.0 here we go! But seriously, i wonder if the guy has any personal issues which can sorta explain why he's been on so many damn teams?
Most logical explanation yet.
By the way how much do camp invitees make?
Here is an article from 2015 that talks about it. Full article linked below covers training camp invitees in the latter portion of the article. If you have played in the league 3 years or less, here is how it works (4 years + veterans get $0 compensation for training camp):
"$127 in per diem, hotel and all travel expenses to take part. The one added bonus is that players are eligible to receive $2,000 in camp compensation per week for roughly four weeks. However, if you make the team, then your training camp compensation gets deducted from your first check on November 15.
Another added wrinkle for training camp invites is that teams have the right to insert an exhibit into the player’s contract protecting the team if a player is injured. A team must have at least 14 players under contract to be able to do this. If the exhibit is added, teams will only be liable up to $6,000 if a player is injured. Before 2011, teams were fully liable for the player’s salary until he recovered from his injury."

at least the last team he has been on (overseas elite) won its tournament... so he maybe isn't that much of a cancer.
Maybe it's Deshaun Thomas Part 2. Forced his way in, but a very long shot to make the team. Austin bound and good luck to him. The reality is that if he's never going to be a Spur he might as well get his training camp deal and get freed to do whatever. I am guessing of course.
Deshaun Thomas had a much better career in Europe but still wasn't able to crack the roster. I seriously doubt that Richards will make it.
How does a 2nd rounder force there way on the team when the Spurs can simply renounce his rights. If he is no good then letting go of his rights should not be a big deal.
The Spurs could renounce him but for what? They can still bring him to camp and get a look at him. If he doesn't make the team it's nothing they are liable for. They only lose the rights to him which still seemed like a long shot to amount to anything.
I get that but some of the earlier posts indicated that he might have forced himself onto the roster.
Aldridge, Pau, Dedmon is solid.
Richards is ass.
Does that mean I agree with you?m
it was probably worded incorrectly if it was me. He has forced himself to a training camp invite and contract like Deshaun Thomas did.
I figure that he's looking for any short term gig that'll get him paid. He made off with some decent money in the recently concluded TBT where his team won $2 million. That's despite him barely playing!
Wasn't that for the whole team?
Also how much does one make playing in the Iranian, Lebanese and Bahraini Leagues
We should start calling him Groundhog Daye. Same over and over.
The whole team, coaches and fans included. I don't know what the actual breakdown was, but with 14 people, that is still around $140K for a few weeks of play.
Nice. Great guy. Life takes unexpected turns, doesn't it?
Id say we are 75% in agreement..
having a 6"11 guy who can shoot the 3/ loves to bang down low at the Pf position is a plus in my mind.
He might not pan out but its way better than the ordinary alternative... Matt Bonner.
Bonner is way, way, waaaayyyy better then Richards.
Matt is an advanced professional basketball player and is an excellent team player. Ryan Richards is far from having either of those traits.
