Are you ducking serious? Depending on the player, the coaching staff will tell you to do other things besides your skill set if your young. Are you a ing moron? Watch the Spurs next time got.
When have you ever been right?!?!?!?!
Oh I forgot, GOT!!!
Seriously, as if the coaching staff would suddenly ask a player to do things outside of his skillset. Green has been terrible at driving to the basket since nearly day one, but all of a sudden because of a "big" contract they'll ask him to do things he's poor at?
That's like asking Patty Mills (your crush) to be a true point guard, Tony to defend or Kyle to be more athletic. He isn't, and they aren't, going to be picking up skills and traits out of thin ing air. You have got to be one of the stupidest posters on this board.

Agree. Manu/Parker aging and Spurs lack quality guards were good reasons to want it.
But Danny was driving early in last regular season -more than other seasons- for some reason.
It's obvious that the Spurs wanted to prove some new moves with him, a role player couldn't get those plays if his coach didn't look for it.
With Parker/Manu aging, the Spurs need to find other offensive options, that's why they were trying to develop Danny's drives, but sadly, at some point, they realized that it wasn't working
Thanks for rubbing in the fact that number isn't 37 ESPN! Timmy, say it ain't so...
LOL... you're like the king of Doesn't-Get-It. As usual, you're arguing about that no one said. It's like pointing something out to a ing dog - they always look at your finger.
She said that dribbling the ball screwed Danny up. As in cause and effect. And I disagreed. Look really closely, head - no mention of whether or not the coaching staff wanted him to drive with the ball. Maybe they did. I don't know for sure, but neither do you. A few people on ST speculating isn't the same thing as "everybody KNEW". But since other teams figured out that they had to stick with him more out on the arc, they probably did try to get him to.
But I can tell you this much. The coaching staff didn't want one of the best 3P shooters in the league to pass up wide-open 3P shots in favor of dribbling the ball and taking bad in-between shots. Didn't happen. And if you think it did, you're even more of a simian than I gave you credit for.
It was the start of the season you stupid . That's exactly the type of thing you try to work on.![]()
As I recall, it is an annual mantra for the coaches and players to say that they want to improve their game by adding some skill sets. They work on these skills in practice and expect the players to be able to put them into practice. The players all say they work on the parts of their game that aren't as good. Look how Kwahi improved his shot from working with Chip and endless hours of practice. Same with Kyle. And others.
I think it was clear that Danny tried to improve his ball handling and driving skills, whether it was because of coaches' suggestions or just a realization by Danny that he needed to work on it. The only thing that matters is that he is trying to improve. Trying.
Yeah, every year some version of Danny 2.0 comes out. Sometimes it's driving. Sometimes it's PnR. Sometimes it's taking shots off screens. Nothing seems to stick, but it's clear he and the coaches set something up every off-season. With him having been in the gym early this year, I think we should expect to see something else.
Do you mean the video or the roster?
Drum roll, Chinook is in town all week. 8:00 show is different from the 10...
I meant the vid is about a week old.
Does anyone see Pop sticking with Lee/Dedmon?
I posted a typical SAGirl essay TM review of the game after I watched it last night and I thought a good part of the TO was the spacing with those two. I have real concerns about it. Dedmon was a huge disappointment I think we pretty much agreed. I hope he will be better, but he didn't strike me as this guy you should be looking to make interior passes to. He's just a guy that hopefully will give rim protection, box out bigs, be in position on help defense and garbage clean up man. He didn't grab boards and fouled too much, so even defensively where he is supposed to be solid, he wasn't and that is a concern, but offensively there are issues for everyone else as well if Lee wants to get to the rim all the time and he is attempting interior passes to Dedmon. I tend to think maybe they can get chemistry and what not, but overall I have concerns about that pairing still.
I knew your stupid ass would say this. Danny isn't young (almost 30 years old) and likely drove more to try to add something to his (limited) offensive game. I doubt Pop or the coaching staff thought it is a good idea that a terrible slasher/finisher try to "add that to his game."
I know a moron like you would, though.
LMAO
I think it's just too early to try and determine what Pop is thinking, many times he doesn't have his rotations figured out till the ASB.
Dedmon won't be a guy to get the ball to in the post or w/e IMO. He seems like he'd be a guy like DeAndre to score off offensive rebounds, P&R, etc..., offensively. Defensively, hopefully he'll be a guy to contest shots, rebound, and not foul too much.
Lee is easier to fit in, and a good P&R player. If he can start knocking down his shot, he'll get even more burn. He runs the floor, rebounds well, and is a hard worker out there. Defensively is obviously a weakness of his, but for a bench player on this team, it's not out of the ordinary. Our 2nd unit generally has been poor defensively, but dynamic offensively.
I try not to judge guys too much at this time, particularly new guys, and especially big guys (who in the past have taken a little longer to familiarize themselves with the "SA Way") For me, I'll kinda wait and see how things look in Dec/Jan for them. If Pop goes the route of playing them together, I imagine he'll give them some time to see if it works. If not, I'm sure he'll adjust to something else
Everyone except you and gs got disagree. gots. Ya not the brightest posters 4th though.![]()
I had a ton of Jeff Ayres flashbacks watching Dedmon.
And TBH just from the eye test he looks closer to 6'9 than 7'0 but I could be wrong.
A real concern bc one cannot win a championship with Jeff Ayres as your 3rd big.
I have all sort of theories and intrigues with how it will shake up. Should be one of the interesting things this season. Hopefully the dude steps up. This is a contract season for him and there is a lot of money for him if he improves. Otherwise they will end up playing super small with Lee as the center.
Again, I think Dedmon being a supposed lock for third big was always what people wanted more so than what was likely. I always thought Anderson and probably Lee would be ahead of him. In reality, he's probably more so in compe ion with Simmons and maybe even Bertans to be the 10th man.
He's 6'10'' barefoot, which makes him roughly 6'11'' in shoes, with a 7'4'' wingspan.
Pop saying the same thing.. too early to form opinions on the new guys
I almost started a thread: Is Dedmon the Ayres of 2016?
Dedmon was my #1 off-season target, as I said throughout, but he's still a project(even at his relatively advanced age)..offensively, he's bad, which was already known..the hope is that he learns to consistently catch and finish with power..
Defense is his specialty and the only way he'll stick in the rotation..the fouling has plagued him his entire career and it continues to be the roadblock for him..he's not comparable to Ayres, though, as Dedmon already has a very good NBA season on his resume(for his role, obviously not in the overall landscape)..
Go ahead - share a theory. (But please do it before I start reading my new book - no time for both.) You know that I have already asserted that as Deadman goes, so go the Spurs. If he is Ayres redux, the Spurs are mere pretenders.
Perhaps PATFO have a Plan B in case Deadman drops. Surely it has to be better than going with Anthony... or staying pat with LMA, Gasol, Lee and Kyle...!
enjoy sense of humor
And I have to admit you were right all along in Deadman being the possible key factor and it's not looking good right now.
It's too early. I don't want to jump on Deadman based on one game. I think the team doesn't have other options (it's not like Tiago/Baynes) so they have to push him and coach him and hope he improves. I don't think Pop wants to go really small. We spotted Deadman/Lee and Deadman/Kyle lineups but never saw Lee/Kyle for example, and I suspect that is far from ideal. Unfortunately what happens if Deadman gets in foul trouble? I don't have the answer. (Lee or LJC?)
Possible trades? I don't think Kyle is in the market unless it's something outrageously beneficial to the Spurs, which are the usually ridiculous trades that ppl propose that would never happen and for a trade it would have to be later in the season once they have tried everything with everyone and are convinced that Deadman is not going to work out. In short, too early.

BTW, thanks for the game analysis. I couldn't catch it.![]()
