Inside Texas saying QB Bryson Smith of John Tyler has been offered.

They feel pretty good about UT's chances.

He seems pretty bent up that Texas didn't offer sooner, I guess as soon as the staff reached Austin. He hasn't tweeted his offer or retweeted anything about being extended as is typical of recruits. A K-State player tweeted him "oh now they want to offer" and he responds "I know right"...anyways I'm sure he'll get over it. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Toneil Carter not visiting this weekend afterall, bummer...
That sucks, but with the former staff leaving you zero recruiting momentum, you have to keep throwing up prayers and hopefully a few work out.

He seemed pretty excited when talking to Inside Texas.

May have been just the way I interpreted it. Seems they're offering him at slot WR.

Former Pedd State player, coached at Bill Cosby's alma mater, yet Baylor thinks he's the guy to clean up after their rape scandal. Good luck with that.
Its gonna be tough on any coach. But the Temple/Cosby + Penn St/pedo connection is laughable.

Personally as a UT fan,and after reading the article, I hoped Rhule would go somewhere other than Baylor. He might work out.

    Lots of Dammits today.

    Wilson, Carter,...

On the other hand there are a good number of red shirts to work with. We could be pretty damn good at O-Line if Hudson is in the mix. Good number of receivers. QB might be a problem if Herman wants Buechele to be a running threat.

    Im not sure about D.

We lose some DTs. Hager and Roach help out wider on the line. LB seems it could be good with some coaching. DBs... Bonney is really slow. There was supposed to be some Florida talent that seems to have no confidence. Can some young safeties step up...

But Charlie says we should win 10 games. Setting the bar high while leaving.

I think we'll be fine at OL and DT as long as we can hold onto the guys we have and can minimize the transfers. What did Strong haul in this past class, about 10-11 lineman? I think as long as we continue to develop the guys we already have we should have enough to be good. Not to say we don't need any takes this class but I don't think having a few misses throughout will make or break us.

We still return Hager, Roach, Hughes, Ford, Nelson, Jordan E. and rest of the freshman at DT. I think at O-Line we only lose Perkins and maybe Nickelson not sure on that one.

This one class won't kill Texas but it's going to make it tough to get over. We need 2 solid RBs in a hard way. I'd even take a juco at this time. Other than RB if we keep what we have and just add a couple guys here and there, we might should be fine in this class.

Personally I hope we only take a class of maybe 15 to 18 guys, just enough to fill the big needs and nothing more. Next year Texas is going to be really strong at Oline, WR, QB, DL, and hopefully LB.

I think our Running game will take a step back but how can it not. Our passing game should be really really tough to handle so overall our total offense should take a few steps forward.

Defensively, I think we take several steps forward, we are going to be really tough up front especially with our pass rush. We don't have a guy as good as Ed Oliver was at Houston, but we have about 4 or 5 guys that aren't far off from him. Where I think you will see the most improvement will come from the maturity of or back 7. It's not just about coaching here, it's about being a year older and a year more experienced. Remember how Greg Robinson was able in two thirds of a season to make our defense look night and day better, well if our new DC is close to being as good as he was at Houston we should have a defense ranked in the top 30.

Give us an improved passing game and a improved defense, we will win 10 games or more. We lost 5 games last year by less than 7 points. Just an improved defense and special teams can make that up.

If Warren can stay healthy, a big if, the run game should not take too big of a hit. He might not be quite as dominant as Foreman, but the threat of our receivers should keep defenses honest.

In an interesting twist, 24/7 reporting RB Toneil Carter says Texas called to cancel his official visit.

They say UT feels good about other RBs.

After looking at his film. He's a take IMO. I'm not expert, but these eyes don't lie.

Well that doesn't make any sense...does it have something to do with JK?

On the surface, that doesn't sound like the full truth.

It's possible Carter wasn't receptive and UT decided it'd be better to focus elsewhere.
