This one class won't kill Texas but it's going to make it tough to get over. We need 2 solid RBs in a hard way. I'd even take a juco at this time. Other than RB if we keep what we have and just add a couple guys here and there, we might should be fine in this class.
Personally I hope we only take a class of maybe 15 to 18 guys, just enough to fill the big needs and nothing more. Next year Texas is going to be really strong at Oline, WR, QB, DL, and hopefully LB.
I think our Running game will take a step back but how can it not. Our passing game should be really really tough to handle so overall our total offense should take a few steps forward.
Defensively, I think we take several steps forward, we are going to be really tough up front especially with our pass rush. We don't have a guy as good as Ed Oliver was at Houston, but we have about 4 or 5 guys that aren't far off from him. Where I think you will see the most improvement will come from the maturity of or back 7. It's not just about coaching here, it's about being a year older and a year more experienced. Remember how Greg Robinson was able in two thirds of a season to make our defense look night and day better, well if our new DC is close to being as good as he was at Houston we should have a defense ranked in the top 30.
Give us an improved passing game and a improved defense, we will win 10 games or more. We lost 5 games last year by less than 7 points. Just an improved defense and special teams can make that up.
