I wonder if there's an inverse relationship between the success of these mobile playground improv QBs and the viewership of NFL games?

I played defense (both ways in HS), nothing is harder than having to deal with a running QB, you are in that constant...will he run, is this a pass? So you have to constantly be thinking about that. With a pocket passer who can't run all ya have to do is zero in on the playmakers.

If a guy can throw...AND..run, that is a of a weapon, yep....Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott.

I definitely see ratings plummeting even further if the level of QB play around the league keeps declining. The NFL sorely needs an infusion of new pocket passing QBs who can read a defense, but the problem is that colleges have stopped teaching anyone how to play the position.

You mean like the NBA needed an infusion of unathletic white bums who couldn't dribble or dunk in the 70s when the rating dipped b/c the white audience couldn't take getting cucked by a bunch of long Africans from the ABA?

Eventually, the race-war b/w Bird/Tragic brought 'em back then Jorn got 'em hooked. Once you go black you don't come back, just ask your mom.

I knew there was some intelligent life somewhere here. You got it my man.

There ya are at linebacker, it's third and 4, there stands Eli Manning, so who will he throw it to?

There ya are at linebacker, it's third and 4, there stands Russell Wilson, so will he run or pass to who?

Whole different deal when an athlete is playing QB.

And once again, the playground-ball apologists resort to playing the race card, as if there's no such thing as a white QB who's entirely reliant on his legs and athleticism or a black QB who can read a defense and play from the pocket.

People aren't tuning out because of black quarterbacks, they're tuning out because of BAD quarterbacks. Run-first QBs make for ugly and boring games.

Let's see how many watch Alabama vs Ohio State/Clemson...ok? As ya know all those teams have black mobile QB's.

Who doesn't want to see Cowboys vs Seahawks, what do they have at QB?

Who did the voters see as the best college player in the nation....mobile black QB.

The game is changing little man, really it is. Remember when the talking about a black QB at Alabama would have got ya shot? , any black at Alabama would have got ya shot, things change half pint, ok?

at comparing college games to NFL games. Newsflash, dip : college defenses are way worse than the pros. Gimmick QBs can put up lots of exciting highlights against defenses full of guys who aren't likely to make it in the NFL. In the big leagues, gimmick QBs give us offenses that struggle to crack double-digit points against any team with a pulse and primetime games ending in ties.

Every time I think you can't get any more re ed, you prove me wrong.

No , the NFL gets their players from the NCAA. That doesn't mean every college player is going to make it in the pros. College QBs pad their stats against defenses that typically have a few future NFL players (if any at all) and plenty of guys who will never get more than a cup of coffee in the NFL at the most. In the pros, these quarterbacks are going up against defenses full of guys who were the best, smartest, fastest and strongest defensive players on their teams in college. The best of the best, the cream of the crop. It's a much tougher challenge. The gimmicks that worked in college aren't going to work for long in the pros.

It's not hard to understand, but your feeble old re ed mind can't grasp it.

Since Crickets loves him some appeals to authority, I'd love to see how he explains away all the concerns from NFL executives and coaches about how little quarterbacks know about playing their own position coming out of college.

People around the league are already in panic mode over how many QB prospects can't even read a defense nowadays:

This year, according to separate interviews with dozens of NFL coaches and executives, something disturbing happened in these pre-draft quiz sessions. When asked the same basic questions, many quarterback prospects responded with something NFL insiders said they have never seen before: blank stares.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said the new crop of college quarterbacks were flummoxed by a simple question about an "under" front, one of the most common defensive alignments. "Whoa, no one's ever told me 'front' before," he remembers one prospect saying. "No one's ever talked to me about reading these defenses."

Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley said he had the same results when he asked prospects a question about defenses shifting from a common scheme called "cover 2" to an equally mundane tactic called "cover 3." Hue Jackson, the offensive coordinator from the Bengals, said he had to dumb down his questions, while Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton said some QBs failed to grasp things as basic as understanding a common play call. "You have to teach these kids the absolute basics," he said.

The knowledge base was so low, Buffalo's Whaley said, that it left him feeling "a little nervous about the long-term future of this game."

Pretty soon, NFL games will be as boring as soccer games as nobody gets good enough quarterback play to score consistently against pro defenses.

That coming from a guy who thinks Derek Anderson is better than Cam Newton, and you wanna talk about a feeble mind? A guy who freaks out over things in.....THE FIRST QUARTER.....haha~~~ Freaks out after....three games into a season, hahaha~~~~~~~~~

Dude, we all get how it works, ok, so why explain it? Seen some football little guy, ok?

Then there's Russell Wilson, doing what? Talk about being re ed, you really don't see it guy, come on man stop acting ing stupid. His compe ors see it, the media sees it, guys like me who has seen everyone for over 50 years sees it.

Dude, YOU calling other re ed is ing funny, ya know that?
