While your idea was pretty re ed, an alternative might be that missed field goals takes points off the board. So if you make a 45 yarder you get 3 pts, but miss it and you lose 1 point. Miss a short FG/extra point and you lose 2 points. Might have teams rethinking if they want to risk losing points on an attempt.

Even so, the status quo is just fine.

Nothing is broke and needs fixing, the game is great just as it is. Kicking field goals is part of it.

But.....

You can't box and worry about a fighter getting knocked out. You can't play football as concerned with safety as they are now. That is hurting the game.
