LMA has been shooting horribly but other than that he's been a monster.
Team needs him offensively. He's not paid at his rate to be just a defensive guy.
I hope dude catches some wind and sails bc at this rate it's an early exit with Lamarcus slumping (on top of others, Danny and Simmons included).

I am just assuming Mills had no legs tonight.

That's why I give extra points to guys like Kawhi, even Kobe as much as we hate him. They were raw athletes with limited NBA skills coming into the league and their work ethic was tops in the league and they transformed themselves from raw mid-round pick athlete to best in the NBA.

With Kawhi, we didn't have to get uber-lucky and win the lottery to get him; it was all about getting to know him as a person at the combine and knowing what his combination of talent, work ethic/motivation to get better, and love of defense could and ultimately would mean to our franchise. With Duncan, it was merely about getting the ping pong ball; if any other team had drawn first in '97, the Spurs would have been a sub-mediocre franchise through the 2000s once David got too old to carry the team.
I give extra points to players who innately understand the game and are not off the chart athletes.

I will take Duncan to watch and on my team every time. All the time.

I was just about to say that Pop didn't put Murray in for a change of pace. He just put him in to give Patty some rest, because he wasn't putting Tony back in. Then this was Pop in the post-game:

Q: Is Tony still fighting through the contusion?
Pop: Yeah, Tony didn't have his legs like he needed, so Patty and Murray for a few minutes there.

He should have given Murray more than 3-4 minutes, the way he played. But noooo.
Hard to get better when you don't have minutes.

No quit in this team. Winning ugly games build character even if it's not good for my heart.

Enrique with his patented fake minor injury excuse yet again. So predictable.

Was merely pointing out guys that bring effort EVERY game.

This is what I have been whining about but Brooklyn fan feels he knows everything and wants to lecture.
Murray should have been in earlier. Mills clearly had no legs he was off all night... now we know Tony wasn't right he's old TBH... oming out from an injury.
This can happen in the playoffs. It probably will happen...

It is impossible to determine which is greater - your aversion to the young, raw PG or my aversion to the old, washed up PG. In either case the Spurs won't win the LOB.

43 minutes 2 games for Aldridge with one day rest.

He won't last. He is a big. And if you watch him run the court you realize distance running is not his forte.

Yeah, but they're grinding out ugly games against teams that don't know how to win those games. What happens when they play teams that know how to win those games, too? Game 6, that's what happens

I have a feeling Murray is getting some basic stuff Pop wants very wrong otherwise I don't get it. That floater he made might be a crowd pleaser but Gasol had made an effort to clear space for a layup backside. Pop did not like that.

The difference between losing in the playoffs with an old, washed up PG and a young, raw PG is getting the young guy up and running sooner rather than later. In either case, the Spurs will not win the LOB.
I have agreed with you b4.
I just accepted Pops rotation choices like I told you a while back and moved on from this point... However it's unacceptable that he's still benched when Manu rested this game and Tony was apparently also not a 100% plus feeling the effects of a B2B. Pop isn't doing a solid job with his guard rotation. Dijon likely needed to play earlier in this game. /sigh

I give a ton of credit to Kawhi, his work ethic is off the charts. But understanding the game the way guys like, Jordan TD, or Lebron, etc... Is where the 2 defer. Kawhi has an insane work ethic, and has improved something every year.

But TD had such a good grasp on the game in 03, it was like moving in slow motion. He knew what the defense wanted to do, and he would have counters for their counters before they countered lol. That's just due to him knowing what he wanted to do. Like that last play from Kawhi, he was a bit unsure of what he wanted to do, and didn't even get a shot off. That doesn't happen with TD in 03 if he has that same scenario.

Impact wise, I am with you, it's comparable. No doubt about it, from a defensive and offensive perspective. Now Kawhi needs to get to that level or close to the mental aspect of managing a game and being ready for whatever comes at him, and having a counter, making smart decisions, etc... It'll happen, but he's just not there yet

What happens if we grind and play well.
Thats what we must hope for, we got some weak spots.
