Should be Gobert, but I'd be shocked if the media picked him over Draymond. I'd bet quite a bit of money that Draymond wins DPOY this year.

I disagree. LeBron's role is so important on offense, he reserves his defense until it's needed, I.e. 4th quarter and in spots during the game. Spurs have done the same with Kawhi...for example, against the Pacers, Green spent most of the night guarding Paul George and Kawhi only guarded him in spots.
Had PG gone off, people would have remember that. But because Danny shut PG down, people assume Leonard must have done it. Again, this is why Kawhi is going to get DPOY votes while Green will likely not get more than a sprinkle of All-D votes. Danny will always be considered a side character in the Kawhi Show, even though he's better than most lead defenders like Bradley, Beverly and Butler.

In the last 21 years, only 1 player who has won DPOY won the championship that same year. I'd rather them give it to Green and let Kawhi get Finals MVP honors again.

Kawhi and Lebron are clearly on different levels defensively. I don't fault Lebron for "reserving." But I acknowledge the clear cut difference in their games.

If Danny isn't getting All D, who gets the nod?

Paul is probably a lock at the guard spot. Bradley was hurt a good portion of the year (55 games, though Paul was only 61). Butler and Roberson are listed as forwards (thanks Oladipo and Wade).

Zach Lowe has Paul/Danny and Beverley/Allen. Now that they've culled the voter rolls of a bunch of hometown homers who are casual fans, it should eliminate the silly All D picks just like MLB has cleaned up its Gold Glove awards.
