I've never seen Pop call out any player on an opposing team or criticise any referee in 20 years. He must be pissed. Bowen's dirty plays were always made in the act of contesting the shot. This was literally taking extra steps under the shooter after he released the ball. It was as bad as it gets.

Does anybody remember what Kerr did to make Pop say that he was "wearing too many hats"? He had accepted the job as GM in Phoenix, but he was still a commentator on TNT... AND he was leading a campaign against Bruce Bowen for being "dirty" from his TNT commentator's seat.

And does anybody remember the biggest complaint he made against Bowen? Yep, under-cutting. Funny how Stevie's delicate sensibilities have mutated over time.

The league agreed that they were not going to tolerate under-cutting, because it was so dangerous. IIRC, they ejected a few guys to send a message, and the practice pretty much disappeared. That under-cut by Pachulia was as blatant as any I have ever seen, and it changed the course of a playoff series. He should be out for as long as Kawhi is, plus a couple of games. And the media should be crucifying Kerr for his hypocrisy and silence.

Neither thing is going to happen.

Edit: Oh - and Mike Brown. .

I understand why people are playing the Bowen card, but it isn't comparable..

    1. I don't recall Pop ever defending Bowen's actions like the Warriors and media are doing with Zaza
    2. It was a different league, tbh..today's NBA has actively and openly tried to remove goons from the game by reducing physicality and emphasizing player safety, including shooters landing safely
    3. Bowen hasn't played for the Spurs in nearly 10 years

Nope, because that chicken head bas is dying since his back is made of vagina so he is a good guy and Kawhi is a weak superstar wannabe.

There is no Bowen Card. There is no ing Bowen Card. Bowen paid a price for some of his tactics (helped out a LOT by Kerr's campaign). He started getting called for everything, and it made him a lot less playable. Pop also started pulling him when he thought it looked like Bruce was being too aggressive.

But that's all immaterial. It has nothing to do with whether or not Pachulia intentionally under-cut Kawhi. He ing did, and there is no way around that. And the league took a strong position against under-cutting years ago. That message hadn't been sent back when Bruce was playing. But it has now. For them not to take a position just plays into all the conspiracy theories about preferred matchups.

Yeah, I dont get it. These are ing professional players. They know to perfection their vicinity. I mean, anyone who has played basketball will know without looking at the other guy's feet, where (to an extent) they'll land after a jumper.

Zaza comes from his right side, and gives 2 additional steps and falls under his left foot? The same foot that KL injured seconds before? GTFO.
If you can contest shots by landing under people's feet anybody could play defense in the NBA.

If the league doesn't do anything about it then it's time for Joel Anthony to earn that roster spot wasted on him.

If people don't think the ESPN media has an agenda, you're seeing it right now. Almost all former players are saying it was intentional and all the talking heads are deflecting by bringing up Bowen, totally ignoring the goon Zaza is because now he plays for the darling GSW.

Because it happened to a Spur, it's the old let's deflect routine, just like the obvious Fisher on Barry foul that was Barry's fault for not "selling the foul" enough the same people were crying about too much flopping at the time.

If this had happened to Curry or Durant though...

Using Bowen as an alibi is wrong. If we go thru the history of the league most teams have dirty laundry.

I don't know if Joel Anthony is that kinda dude. Dedmon is and he doesn't need Pop's blessing to do it, he'll just go crazy on his own as we saw in Game 1 against HOU.

At least Bowen hasn't been on the team for more than half a decade.

Remember when Phil Jackson was calling Frank Brickoski a goon during the finals and complaining that he was out there just trying to hurt someone and bait the bulls players into fights.

He said this while Rodman was on his Bulls team

    No ing shame.

Joel is a nice Canadian dude. My vote is for Dedmon. Unfortunately Pop knows this and will be why he doesn't sniff court. Yeah Dedmon gets some payback, a scrum happens, other more important players get involved trying to stick up for him, etc. Its a slippery slope.

That's said, GSW and take them all out. Without Kawhi Spurs ain't winning anyway.

It's like I have said on other threads that any media pundit who says this was an accident is a spurs hater. Anybody whose objective knows this was dirty.

It's pathetic do what Lakers fans...err....I mean Warriors fans are doing right now. Basically saying, "Well Bruce Bowen was dirty...so you guys had it coming."

It would be like if Andre Drummond got injured intentionally and I said, "Well Bill Laimbeer was one dirty mother er. Pistons fans had this one coming." The two are separate instances and should be treated that way.

If you want to call Bowen a dirty player...more power to you. I won't argue against you at all. But, don't excuse what Zaza did because of a guy who played almost a decade ago.

Yeah, you always gotta follow the money. NBA loves the Warriors because they're the team for the millennial casuals since they have that Silicon Valley/Twink Nation culture. Plus promoting them as the newest dynasty helps get that new stadium built.
The press utes such as ESPN just do what they're told.

There's only one thing Pop could do to elevate his status on Spurstalk more than this rant. That's order a hit on Zaza Gabor. I mean you see the hit and then the camera shows him with two thumbs up. Spurstalk would literally blow up and Pop would never see a negative thread bearing his name again.
