Sure, if Pau will go for opting back in to,his same deal. I don't see why not; however I have never heard of such a thing.
Then he can off. His only leverage is the Spurs compensating him for opting out. If he won't take a full repayment of his option year, the Spurs can move on.

It matters because Livingston is a comparable player (who I think is actually better). SL's contract sets the market. Paying 50% less for him for a year less shows how ty this new Patty deal is. Also, why is SL taking a pay cut vs. the spurs overpaying patty?

Plus, why are they tying more long term money up? This makes no sense with 2018.
He's definitely better than Patty. But he was never leaving GS if he's taking an 8 million dollar deal. Are you implying no one out there was going to pay more than 8 million per for Livingston because THAT would be re ed. Look at the contracts that have been given out last year and those that will go out this year.

As for long term money, did you expect nothing but min or one year deals before 2018? The Spurs have to fill a roster, cap room plan or not. LMA pretty much on a 2018 plan already. There's no real reason to hold out for 2018 cap room, even before all of this. Who were they going to sign?

Mills on a 12 million dollar deal isn't going to hamper the Spurs going forward. its always going to be a trade-able contract.

How many Spurs offseasons have you been here for? Have you learned nothing? Why is ANYONE surprised or shocked by what is happening? Every ing year the Spurs do the same thing (and keep winning) and people here are shocked when they do it again the next year.

He had a player option. He opts in and the Spurs may have had to dump him to a team NOT of his choice to create room. He didn't want that. So he said he opted out to ask for longer term deal.

The Spurs didn't promise him, nor are they obligated to give him one. Signing his original contract amount is totally within bounds.

Patty's re-signing clearly shows PATFO's confidence in Murray. I'm assuming Patty will continue to come off the bench.

As @wojespn just reported, the Spurs took Iguodala's call on this, not the other way. I don't know that the Spurs are a live bidder.

I think that's bc they don't want to pay JSimms an excessive amount... but that's I guess I don't know cap issues or whatever but I think that's tied to JSimms ultimate destination.
Perhaps. I would really like JSimms back, but recognizing that is still a bit of a gamble, I (like everybody) don't want to break the bank over him.

Yeah, this is what people are missing here. Patty coming back shows that Murray is likely starting on day one.
