Which we should ALL want. If they're going to compete, he needs to become a top 15 PG and fast. None of the guys on the market save Lowry are top 15 PGs. George MIGHT be borderline.

Gay can be the gunner off the bench the team has needed since Ginobili's scoring became inconsistent. As a starting three, it would be awkward for sure (assuming Kawhi moves to the two), but put him at the backup four with Bertans or Anderson moving into the starting role (with LMA as the five), and you have a more interesting team.
classic man. i always think of this vid when hearing Gay's name
Rudy Gay. Did not see that coming.
So we're going to have two TOSBs coming off career ending injuries next season?![]()
Or Gay plays the 4 starting.
Spurs really look like they're tooling up for a smallball lineup full time.
He's just using us as leverage
I'm not getting his jersey.... nope
It's just a guesstimate considering Spurs meeting with other wings that could earn what I think Simmons wants. But now it seems like Andre Iguodala was the one with interest which doesn't send me the same message.
Rudy Gay is coming off an achillles tear and still rehabbing...Anyways Spurs offered JSimms 9 mill per year on a 2-1 contract. He wants more so he's going to talk to other teams. This may not be solved tonight
Do you really offer a 4 year deal to a designated backup PG?
If Gay can come back from the achilles injury then the though of LMA, Gay, Leonard, Green, Murray sounds pretty nice. That is a very long team that should be able to switch and defend multiple positions.
Only 2mil of Livingston's 3rd year is guaranteed. Mills contract just got even tier.
That's also possible, but I think Kawhi, Gay and LMA make an awkward fit. Patty would have to start. I guess if Simmons doesn't return, Murray, White, Anderson, Bertans, big works. But Simmons' skill-set wouldn't be great at any position, even if Danny's traded.
Pop and RC: "if you guys thought last year's squad was bad"
Who says just next season? They could give Gay something long term, and re-up Tony.
But I guess they might not be "coming off career ending injuries" those extra years. So the answer to your question is "yes".
I thought versatility was the goal in the modern NBA. I guess Spurs are going a different direction.
No no. If I'm RC and am negotiating with Patty, I'd look at SL's contract as a comp (like you're buying real estate) to set Patty's price. If SL is the "nicer house," why are you paying more for less? I get that there's a loyalty factor of sticking to a contender, but I think that applies to Patty and the spurs too. Simply, this deal makes no sense because you're paying more (for longer) for less. What's the defense to that?
I'm not following the logic here. We need to fill a roster spot so overpay Patty? The better alternative would be to take the 800k roster charge than overpay Patty. Also, why does LMA on 2018? Do you think he'll exercise his player option? Because I don't.
It's not going to help the cap. Patty doesn't move the needle vs. the warriors. He's borderline unplayable against them. So why tie up a ton of money long term by overpaying for an undersized pg?
I've been here for too many of these kinds of offseasons. This reminds me of the RMJ years. We've committed to some horrible contracts before, and we just did again tonight.
Rudy guy is the definition of empty stats
I don't expect this to get resolved tonight. Then again, I didn't expect PATFO to pursue RUDY GAY. I hope signing him didn't signal JSimms' departure.
More career turnovers than assists. The beautiful game is back, es!!
Good. Pump the out of those brakes.
