Ah, , if you want to treat this as a serious discussion - the main reason the Spurs will never be moved to Austin is because it would siphon off some of the Mavs' fans. The league does some incredibly study of media markets before they place a team. Talk about moving the Spurs closer to the Mavs' back yard, and Cuban would have a fit. And the other owners would sympathize with him, and the plan would never see the light of day. It's the same reason that San Antonio or Austin won't get an NFL franchise, no matter what "they" say. It would drastically cut into the Cowboys' market and revenues. Both leagues are fine with things just the way they are. The Spurs couldn't just make the decision to move the team.
Not sure where you get that from. Austin is much more a Spurs supporting town than Mavs town. Not even close.

Because if you moved the Spurs to Austin, their market would extend way farther north, and cut into places that mostly follow Dallas right now. Trust me, that part isn't even up for debate. Cuban would block it with a vengeance.

II don't think most people in Austin pay much attention at all to the NBA. The Longhorns don't play in that league.

Iggy goes to Houston and GS is going after Gay. No problems, we have Mills.
Wait until you see what we get for Aldridge, it'll make the Mills signing look great.

I'm not saying anything other than Austin is my favorite city in texas. Has nothing to do with drugs. The main draw to me is the music scene and a real melting pot of folks. Just a weird and different city like Portland. Asheville, nc, etc.

Music is more important to me than basketball. I only travel to San Antonio for play off games. Mainly finals games. On the days between games I shoot up to austin to hang out.

I'm on vacation and just trying to have the best time possible. It is purely a selfish reason on my part. Not speaking to player preferences.

If I was an nba player I'd go all magnum pi and just take helicopter up there to avoid that traffic.

I was giving you a little . The music in Austin is as good and as eclectic as it gets anywhere. And if you haven't been to the Continental Ballroom and listened to Jon Dee Graham, you should.

I know the shortage of nightlife (especially first-rate ty bars) is a negative for some FA's. I don't think it's anywhere nearly the problem some people here claim. But what the do I know about what drives NBA players? I agree though, that chopper/limo service for a select clientele would probably be a good business.

He's a re if he turns that down unless Houston can somehow clear enough space to give him 3 years, $60 million or more.

Then again... a 45 minute commute to Austin, to enjoy all those things, is probably shorter than the daily commutes in LA. If they can drive an hour in LA, why can't they drive 45 minutes to Austin if they live here?
LOL I couldn't believe it the first time I went to an Angels game in Anaheim and the drive from my apartment on the westside of LA was 3 hours one way. People who haven't lived in LA don't know what traffic is.

The bar scene and music scene in austin is spectacular. Got hot college chicks, hipsters, etc. Every walk of life.

I listen to anything and everything except commercial country music. Blues, jazz, bluegrass, folk, afrobeat, rock, southern rock, funk, rap, new Orleans style big brass band.

Not to on country music fans, but I don't dig that at all. I like old school like Johnny cash, willie, Don williams, etc.

Pretty sure he isn't going to be moved. People took a story from Stephen A Smith of all people and treated it as gospel because they wanted it to be true. LMA may not be happy, and the Spurs may well be disappointed in him. But fans started thinking the Spurs were desperate to get rid of him, and it just doesn't look to be the case.

So far, the only news we got in terms of how the Spurs valued LMA or Green was that the Spurs were asking for a high price for Danny and were offering LMA for a top-five pick. Accepting those at face value, people treating those guys are goners never really made sense, especially not straight dumps.

I'm about 95% with you. We could hang. Agreed - no modern country music, which is really just canned pop/rock sung with a twang.

SAS is an ass, but what he reported was Aldridge wanted out, which is hard to think was wrong when he unfollowed the Spurs and deleted all his tweets from when he signed here in 2015. Even heads like Smith can be right some of the time.

It's insane. I missed a flight one time cause I got stuck in Malibu. just shut down on the road and it took hours to get to the airport. Moving at a speed of a few feet per minute it seemed.

Austin is a gentrified, pseudo-liberal, expensive city that has lost so much of what once made it great. Very white too. It has driven out its African- American demographic and diluted its Hispanic culture. Even SXSW is corporate now. The drag is an homage to capitalism.

I never thought it was likely that the Spurs would get what they needed to trade him. Right now, teams are all feeling optimistic, and trying to hit FA home runs. I think there's a chance of the Spurs moving him mid-season, if things shake out right. If LMA plays like it's a contract year AND if the Spurs' season isn't looking good, there may be a team or two that think they could contend, if they only had one more piece. But if LMA is playing like it's a contract year, the Spurs will still probably be looking at another 50 win season, so they still won't be dumping him. I guess if he pouts and plays like , it would be hard to dump him anyway.
