Even if there wasn't an Internet, I love the suggestion that the removal of statues somehow means "more" books need to be printed. As if those books weren't already being printed and now we need more to make up for the loss of historical knowledge without statues.

We all lose on our statue-based history when such things go away. I mean, however will we learn about the past?

For anyone else I'd also laugh at how re ed that argument is, but coming from ducks I'd say it's to be expected.

    [thread post response]
You know, having Thread on ignore is the best thing I have done on this website. If ever there was a poster less worthy of responding to, and with nothing really worthwhile to say that is it.

After 10+ years he is the only person on my list, other than a ton of mouse troll/sock puppets.

FWIW. You should try putting him on ignore, and see how much better the place is.

BOMBS : New evidence suggests Charlottesville was a complete SET-UP

“A Charlottesville police officer has come forward to express his anger at being told to “stand down” by the city mayor during violent clashes between protestors. He also claims the protests, which pitched “white supremacists” against members of Antifa, were “set up” to further the agenda of the elites.

“We [Charlotesville police] were ordered to bring the rival groups together. As soon as they were in contact with each other, we were told to stand down. It was outrageous. We weren’t allowed to arrest anyone without asking the mayor first. We weren’t even allowed to stop the driver as he sped away.“

“The event was being set up as far back as at least May and it went like clockwork.”
Michael Signer, the mayor of Charlottesville, ordered police to stand down during the most chaotic and destructive period of the protests – despite police protests against the orders.

“We wanted to do our job and keep the peace. But these mother******s in charge really want to destroy America.”

This revelation is huge and if true may implicate Mayor Signer and possibly other city officials in the death of a citizen.
“Fox News reporter Doug McKelway was on the scene in Charlottesville and he backs up the police officer’s claims.

“I can say, having been in Emancipation Park from early on that morning, that what I saw with my own two eyes confirms what this law enforcement source told us. At least from all visible appearances. We saw people coming out of that park who had head wounds, who were bleeding from the head, people walking into that park with bats, with sticks — you saw what they were wearing — helmets, body armor, they had come — and this pertains to both sides — they had come to do damage.. you cannot help but notice from that video that police had been more pro-active, they could have potentially calmed this thing down to some degree.”

I agree that Nazi groups are small, but it only took one person to mow down people with a car. This is the same argument for, "but Islamic terrorists are only a small percentage".

Yes, Antifa are violent and political violence is wrong.

I've been told there's no more than 8,000 supposed 'Nazis' in the United States tops. They would get squashed if they tried anything. The cartoon speaks more to Media partisan bias imo

There are over 500 "militia groups" within the United States that are mostly made up of white nationalist and white supremacists.

And that is an old statistic. That number is likely higher by now.

RACISM IS PART OF THE REPUBLICAN IDEN Y

With some Republicans denouncing racism, it's important to remember the party was built on it.

roughly two-thirds of Republicans said they agreed with Trump's response to the attack.

that the Republican Party is very much a party that endorses racism. The GOP has long relied on stoking “racial anxieties” to maintain power.

Trump's response to the attack on Charlottesville might read as soft on racism to many, but it's more likely that

it's exactly what many Republicans wanted to hear.

It doesn't benefit a president whose political career was born out of racist dog whistles to suddenly turn his back on the ideas that got him elected.

We haven't received any official reports. As far as we know that could be an actor playing Alex Jones.
