I was thinking that too. The brief team we've seen white he has shown some ability to get to the basket. And with Tony being out and Murray being in foul trouble i figured he would have given him some spot time to give mills a break but no...don't get it tbh

It wasn't a 5 second call. It was Barrea running to the corner instead of the backcourt, causing hesitation by Matthews. And then, Matthews being too stupid to get out of the way of the deflection.
