Yeah it's over. No way the Spurs can dump $44 million a year into this POS who went AWOL for a year. I'll enjoy watching the Spurs so much more when that black cloud he cast over the franchise is finally gone.
I think that's exactly right from Pop's pov. I think the groupies want to turn it into a negotiation thing. And also make sure the Spurs "accept" them. Status thing.

I'm just saying these two guys here and their "close source to the Spurs" where the same rumors we listened on any SA radio show all year.
Dr.Garret said it was a mental issue, then you had these two posting the same on ST.
Didn't matter if SAS doctors or Kawhi's doctors said otherwise...The same thing with the trade at deadline..They were always wrong

Here’s a recap of the past few days:
1. After the Finals, reports came out that the relationship between the Spurs and Kawhi were at the “healing stage” and Pop and Kawhi were going to sit down and have a meeting.
2. The Spurs leaked a report to the media that during the meeting, they expected Kawhi to demonstrate his commitment to the franchise before they would offer him the supermax. The media interpreted this as the Spurs having the upper hand in negotiations.
3. Kawhi’s camp saw this report and got angry. They delayed the meeting with Pop. After that, they leaked to the media that they wanted a trade from the Spurs and that they didn’t care about the supermax anymore.
My take is that #3 was a ploy by Kawhi’s camp to extract the supermax from the Spurs. All indications had been that the relationship was at its healing stage and that Kawhi was ready to sign an extension. But when they saw the report about the Spurs not willing to offer the supermax unless Kawhi proved his loyalty, they got mad and pretended he wanted to be traded to another team to gain leverage in negotiations.
Here’s my prediction: Pop and Kawhi will sit down and finally have that meeting. Kawhi will say he wants to be traded to the Lakers, and Pop will cave and give him the supermax he’s wanted all along. Then Kawhi will sign on the dotted line.

That being said, Stephen A. will be kissing Kawhi's ass if he wins a ring with his new team. He pulled the same with Durbeta.
The funny thing is, I don't know that Kawhi does care about those things. I gather from reading multiple sources, he liked it in SA because it's low key. He's not the type to want the attention.
As funny as that is, it also pisses me off. Kawhi is ing the Spurs over by making it seem like the city is a dump. That's what the whole media narrative has been all day long. irritates me beyond belief. Yet another reason to send him to a lovely resort like Milwaukee for the winter. . That. Guy.
