The Spurs aren't re s like the Cavs front office when it comes to trades. Besides Miguel your roster is trash. What could we possibly want? Kuzma is overrated af. And ingram is meh. Lakers young talent is garbage

Different situations. It was arguable the Celtics did not get better in that trade because they gave up a lot of people. No one knew the Celtics young guys would end up being this good and the Cavs struggling this much. Cavs were always the favorites in the East regardless. Lakers on the other hand have tons of cap room and lots of young assets (perks of sucking for 5 years) so giving them Kawhi now and having them sign free agents and possibly trading those guys is pretty much setting up a 3rd super team. That Twitter is dumb.

1-Depends on the players. LA helped a lot Blake, I doubt he would sign the same type of endorsements playing in the East now.
Griffin is not nearly as good or a player as was, and especially as people thought he was going to be. Irving got Uncle Drew even though he was drafted by Cleveland.

2-Young players don't take discounts in this league.

3-No one takes discounts to play for teams in states with high taxes.

4-Who the would take a paycut to play for NY, Brooklyn, LA? They have ton of money, players know that
I'm not talking about taking discounts for stars. I mean why wouldn't guys jump all over mid-tier money from NY/LA is they were just going to make any difference up in endorsements? The biggest advertising advantage those cities have comes from their local commercials, and as we can see from the Spurs, though involve both stars and role-players. So a bunch of players should have understood that and signed with those big-market teams to maximize their earnings. But no, financially speaking, playing in a big market is not better than playing in a small one. If Leonard and his posse open themselves up to more ads and completely back away from the creepy aura they're giving off, then he can get a lot more endorsements. That's even more true if he can somehow sound charismatic when he delivers his lines.

Definitely understandable to want Tatum but you will be proven wrong on Rozier and Brown. Can't get 1 to 1 value so Brown and Rozier are amazing for a 1 year lease (if that is the case).
Rozier is a scrub who got hot until the game that really mattered. Brown is a nice prospect but I'd probably roll the dice on Fultz instead as ty as Fultz looked last year. If I'm the Spurs I'm also making a call to the Warriors to talk about a Klay for Kawhi swap.

With the idea that you're basically conceding les for now but the lux tax will cause them to implode in a few years and we'll still have Klay? Is that your reasoning? Not sure why we'd want to make a Superteam more super?

Because he's the second best shooter in the league and a first rate defensive player who is 28. I don't see anyone better the Spurs could land if Ainge isn't willing to part with Tatum.

I don't care if it makes Golden State unstoppable, it's the only way I can see the Spurs getting decent talent back if they can't pull Tatum. Team Klay up with Aldridge and maybe the Spurs have a puncher's chance of beating GSW if Durant, Leonard, or Curry gets injured for the playoffs.

The Spurs aren't the Cavs. And the Celtics were offering the Brooklyn pick, which was seen as an extremely valuable asset. Not the same situation at all.

By the time the Dubs faded, Klay would be like 33. I'd take a #2 pic from Sac, or roll the dice on an injured Kyrie or Porzingis, before giving the Dubs KL.

Doesn't matter how good of a shooter he is since the Spurs' offense is a trash heap and isn't getting any better in the near future, and he's overrated as a defender. Spurs will also be in the same dilemma since he's set to walk in 2019 and isn't worth a max contract.

Kerr says no, durant fuked their culture and kawhi is worse than durant. It's a fair trade but klay is too valuable. It would have to be a trade that offers them some cap relief

ESPN reporting Brown, Rozier, Marcus Morris plus a draft pick is still available. That would be awesome. We still have leeway to go after free agents this summer while rebuilding and staying compe ive. Sending him West doesn't make sense. Sending him East gives it a better chance he stays East which is what the Spurs really want. Not drama 4x a year and early in playoffs.
How about Tatum + a pick (or keep walking).

I think you'll get a counteroffer of Draymond.

You make the trade with Boston for Irving and you get an injury prone player who plays no defense and GSW is still unbeatable without season ending injuries. Porzingis might be my third option, with Tatum #1 and Thompson #2. I'm worried about bust potential with Doncic. I don't want to trade Leonard for the next Dante Exum, though the pick idea is definitely interesting given RC's ability to find good talent. Still, I remember how sprung RC was on Derrick Favors a few years ago when he was drafted, so even with a GM that good it could still be a disaster.

Not a chance. I'd much rather have the Brown + Rozier deal as much as that offer sucks.

Base, you're spiraling. Thompson is like the worst offer in this thread. And this is Spurstalk for 's sake. Second-overall from a team that has to know Kawhi intends to walk automatically changes the nature of the market.

How is Thompson the worst offer in a thread where Laker fan is talking about trading for Leonard?

Part of the problem with Klay(not that the Warriors would even make this trade, since it would make their team worse IMO) is that he's already due for a massive deal, in addition to his age..

Maybe if Pop strictly wanted to win now, but I'd rather acquire young players who don't command a max deal for a minute(not interested in the Lakers deal)..

, only Tatum, Sacramento and Philly's deals sound appealing, so far..

I understand that route but you eventually have to walk to something. I like Brown plus Rozier over just Tatum... easily. Rozier would be a huge upgrade in pg for us he could play next to Murray.
