San Antonio sucks if your a young black multimillionaire. Ugly fat es that are fatter than wild texas hogs and no legal weed yet. Austin, LA, denver, phoenix, las vegas are all way better than sa.
Funny you mention lack of legal weed and then pump another Texas city in your list Also, have you seen leather skinned desert people? Sure they are skinner but they look like ing sun baked meth heads. Whatever floats your boat.

Pelicans and Bobcats need to relocate before the Spurs
No team "needs" to relocate, tbh. Owners who aren't competent enough to make it work in their current market should sell their team to someone who can.

Just takes one good draft pick to change a team’s forecast. Spurs could draft the next Mitc or whatever next week. You never know. It only takes one star pick to turn a B.B. team into a playoff team.

One would hope they upgrade to a new arena long before that, though. It's already old.

The Spurs got into the playoffs with all the distractions last season. Knowing that Spurs wouldn’t have Kawhi (if he’s gone) if it’s LMA, and he balled the best in his career last season, or some other talent that FO are bringing in, you know what you got coming into summer camp, tweaking the right pieces together come regular season, Spurs will be in the playoffs no sweat, albeit maybe not a championship team yet cause it takes time. Spurs are the best in developing talents, making players strive at their best natural abilities. Who knows, Kawhi could have been just another Jimmy Butler in another team at best. No disrespect to HOF Tony and Manu, but easily could’ve been just another Andre Miller and Dragic in another team system. Only Iceman, Drob and Duncan were truly legitimate franchise players. The rest were developed to what the team needed at the time. We needed a lockdown perimeter guard, Kawhi. Except his offensive acceleration was also off the charts, which was great because our big three were getting older and needed someone to replace. All I’m saying is I trust Pops and his crew to figure this out and will get the best off Kawhi, if traded, and the draft. I’m sure Pops and FO will have their best work ahead of them, trying to replace a star player and not losing the team to another city. In Pops we trust

Tim's long gone, Manu's gone, Parker's soon to be gone and Kawussy is as good as gone. Aldridge will go somewhere else when his contract expires, no doubt. Popovich will retire soon to spend the rest of his widowed days drinking wine and making re ed political rants.

The Spurs will very soon be stuck with a bunch of average young players and scrubs long-term. The "leaders" of the team will be all the Eurotrash wasted on draft and stash players in Europe, most of which never came here or busted out when they did come here. They'll win 25-30 games per year for the foreseeable future, never enough for an impact top draft pick nor competing for a playoff berth.

Soon, very soon, the AT&T Center arena emptiness will become a HUGE thing, in a way it never has before, not just in a "early third quarter at Whataburger" kind of way. Ex-fans that were diehards during the 1991-2016 heyday will not show up. Attendance will drop well below pre-David Robinson figures. There will be empty seats all over the stadium, and dollar seats will become a thing just like the SA Missions games. Even with the dollar seats, there will be a lot of emptiness.

The bottom line: SA just isn't a good enough city to support a struggling franchise or team in today's generation. The priorities just aren't there for the culture of the town of SA (unlike, say, another small market team in OKC). The metro area isn't big enough, and the support for the team outside of the 210 area code is virtually nonexistent (unlike, say, another small market team like the Green Bay Packers of the NFL). 1999-2014 (really, 1991-2016) was an amazing run for the city and the franchise, but the song has been sung, the book has been written and it is time for it to be closed for good.

In order to do what's best in the name of business, revenue and common sense, this soon-to-be struggling franchise should strongly consider relocating sooner rather than later. It has been ten years since Seattle has lost their team, and that would be a terrific option for relocation, as that city has yearned for their return since 2008. Other viable options include potentially Kansas City, St. Louis, San Diego, or even Vegas who just had an extremely successful season with their first ever pro sports team (hockey). There are countless possibilities. Ultimately, this franchise, founded in Dallas in the early 1970s, should seek to start a new great chapter in its studded history, but first it should determine its third home town -- one better equipped and suited than San Antonio.

Even though austin is in texas where its still illegal, weed is way easier to get in austin than SA. I was working up in austin a couple of years and had no problem getting good cali dro from some black hipster working on 6th street on my first day living there. Try doing that in SA in your looking to get robbed or shot by orejon gangbangers, arrested, etc. Unless you know people who know people, you aint having a good 420 time in san antonio.

This narrative is so played out. The Spurs have a lease with the county until 2032. The county just spent $1 million to upgrade the att center. Yeah the county just spent a million dollars but will let the spurs out of their lease out of the kindness of their hearts.

You don't know San Antonio. Let me tell you what will really happen should the Spurs start to be an average or losing team. The wealthy, pinky extended, tea sippers will not come to the games, but what you can expect would be the return of the nasty, angry, ballbusters to the sidelines that made the Spurs and kept them as a feared destination for opposing teams before the Robinson era.

Agreed with Op. Would benefit the NBA if smaller market teams are moved to bigger markets.

It's weak trolling material by these idiots who are desperate to troll knowing that if Kawhi gets traded there won't be much left to troll about.

Location choice was pretty poor, obviously downtown would be ideal, but even something on the northside would have been better than the current location. Its odd, because the stadium itself is quit ing nice, just location sucks. American Airlines Center in Dallas did it right. They are in a prime location right by DART, they have a plaza outside the stadium with bars, restaurants, etc. Makes for a great gameday experience.
Agree on the location. The east side is a hole full of the same type of worthless hoboes you find in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Cleveland, Oakland, or Lagos, Nigeria.

It was a very ty attempt at gentrification. Definitely, something downtown or on the north side would have been best. There's not a lot of great options though, because the south side and south west side are just as ty as the east side, only with trashy mexicans instead of trashy blacks.

I would disagree. Until you have been in homes of people who live in these locations you do not know. Yes, many are poor, but there are no more trashy people on the south side than there are on the north side. In fact I think there are more on the north side.

If you are in SA, why don't you ing leave?
    Welcome to August 2013, bro.

As a senior in high school (2012-13), I told my mom there's no way I was staying in SA for college. At the time I'd rather have gone to Prairie View than UTSA. Ended up choosing UNT Denton to get as far away from SA as possible without losing the in-state tuition thingy.

Though I did go back to SA for Christmas breaks and 1 ½ summers, including the full summer of 2014 which was obviously worth it for many reasons. Took classes at Northwest Vista College that summer (transferred them back to UNT), got free coffee at two different Valero's close to NVC on a class day immediately after the Spurs won their final championship. Being in SA for "Drive for 5, Finished Business" was one of the best memories of my life, better than losing my virginity or delivering my HS valedictorian speech.

But like a great TV series, if it goes on too long it will water down the team's history and make it stale. Like ordering ten lobster tails instead of three; by the fifth one, you get tired of lobster. I suggest they start anew in a different city with a different name and mascot.

What is it lacking aside from a better location?
