    An Ayres return incoming?

I mean, are they finally bringing Milutinov over?
Hope so, I mean it's been 3 years.

Marco was incredibly good during regular season, when his offensive skills and movements were the best our system can get, but quite a liability during play offs because of his defensive flaws...the point is that with an aging and bad shooting team, he could be ideal for our regular season record, and for let our veterans (I mean Gino and a rehabbing Kiwhi) rest. Then, in play offs, he'll be used as a situational player...(but let's not forget that he played decently last play offs for Philly...so the least we can say is that he improved his play offs game based on experience).
He also could be a good teacher by example for a guard like Walker.

The main point is that he's replacing Forbes, whose shooting skills didn't translate enough, expecially in play offs games, to balance his awful defense (that was comparable and maybe worse than Marco's one).

as of now, we fixed the back court, if not the team at all. In perspective:
    P Guards : Murray - White - Parker
    S. guard Mills - Walker - Gino
    Small f. Kiwhi - Green - Belinelli
Power f. Gay - Anderson - Bertans (Metu)
Big man LMA - Pau - Milutinov (Metu)

Not sure Metu is on the big roster, though they could use part of the MLE to sign him to a 3 or 4 year deal. I Think they know Manu is likely retiring so Beli is to help replace him. Without Metu but with Bertans and Anderson probably back and Milutinov, they would have 13 roster spots committed- assuming Kawhi, Paul and Forbes are gone.

Curiously a Kawhi trade would might be harder if the other team needs to send out multiple players to make the math work.

They could have just kept Forbes for a fraction of the cost.
    Forbes just isn't good, tbh.

Both Gay and Marco moves looks like Spurs are not trading Kiwhi, at least for now...and Manu was playing good basketball last season, and is still under contract for next.

They spend 6% when they only have 8.7% to spend

He is a terrible defender, can't play SF, and ruins the young athletes at that position they had coming up

    This is real bad
He obviously is a great locker room guy, in a time we desperately need. He will be a number one shooter. Is insurance for Manu and Danny or if any of the young guns are not ready. Can pass. Can shoot. Just had his best shooting percentage season. He would have been a Spur the whole time if we didn't go after LMA.

that's news to me, given how many times his national team imploded with him, but i guess he has grown up a bit.

Not thrilled at all with this signing. I would have been ok with it if Belli could play a lick of D.

It just seems like the Spurs will never seriously commit to a youth movement until Pop and the likes of Messina are gone..

after belinelli left the team the spurs ran out of a three-point shooter

he was a key player when he was on the team, he's a great shooter and the team needed this

in this era of three-point shooting, he's a great signing

Let's analyze the game, his role was not defensive specialist, he was a specialist to put three-point shots and incredible shots

Boris Diaw will be returning to the Spurs too, motivated for a resurgence. You heard it here first.

I was thinking that too, but man, the locker room issues that would be presented by bringing Kawhi back seem to be to the exact thing that the Spurs would like to avoid.

It might just to keep a baseline of competency by bringing back Gay and re-signing Belli with the goal of being a playoff team with or without Kawhi.
