Marco was incredibly good during regular season, when his offensive skills and movements were the best our system can get, but quite a liability during play offs because of his defensive flaws...the point is that with an aging and bad shooting team, he could be ideal for our regular season record, and for let our veterans (I mean Gino and a rehabbing Kiwhi) rest. Then, in play offs, he'll be used as a situational player...(but let's not forget that he played decently last play offs for Philly...so the least we can say is that he improved his play offs game based on experience).
He also could be a good teacher by example for a guard like Walker.
The main point is that he's replacing Forbes, whose shooting skills didn't translate enough, expecially in play offs games, to balance his awful defense (that was comparable and maybe worse than Marco's one).
