But wouldn't they sign the second star next offseason (Kawhi) and then move the spare pieces? Guess they could trade Kawhi now and have almost dedicated going into next offseason for a third piece.

Also, Kuzma and Hart make peanuts compared to Ingram and Ball. More likely they stay as depth.
So why would you not trade the pieces now for Kawhi to guarantee you get your star now vs wasting a year only to try and trade them later?

76ers should have the same level of interest in Kawhi. With LeBron gone, the East is between them and Celtics. Kawhi would shift that match up in 76ers favor.

And I think the Lakers learned their lesson from PG. That Laker team needs Kawhi. It’s possible they miss the playoffs or are a low seed without another superstar. LeBron can carry a team by himself in the East, but he’s never had to go through the West. He won’t do it alone in his 30s.
    They signed LeBron, not Kobe.

And to top it of SAS just reporting the following

    - LA put SAS on the clock until tomorrow morning.
    - LA not offering Kuzma or 3 1st round picks.
    - SAS hearing from execs Kawhi may sit next year rather than play for SA.

    LMAO!

Then you suspend him, recoup the money and he'll lose another year of his prime. Easy as pie.

I think a deal for Kawhi gets done whether it’s with PHI or LA in the next couple days. Just makes too much sense now that the Lebron decision is made.

The Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs have been in touch on a Kawhi Leonard trade two times on Sunday and may talk again this evening.

"San Antonio is asking for the house," said Stephen A. Smith. "Kyle Kuzma is off limits. They're not willing to surrender three picks. Their mentality is that Kawhi Leonard wants to be a Laker (now or in 2019)."

Smith also reports that Leonard could even sit out the 18-19 season if he's not traded to the Lakers. Smith clarified that he's heard this from other executives and not directly from Leonard on that report.

The Lakers are prepared to walk away from trade talks with the Spurs if a deal isn't done by Monday.

Watching that sit out next year would probably be one of the best case scenarios tbh

    Take no disrespect!

If the Lakers can't give up Ingram AND Kuzma then let Kawhi sit, but drag him to every game and make sure to fine him at every opportunity.

Why? Why would you trade for something you dont really want? That would be dumb.

It's scary how much power athlete has nowaday. Most people won't even have a job the next day for pulling crap like this. If the report is true, then I will lose all respect for this player.
