Didn't Belli sign a 2 year deal too?

Bertans and Forbes are on cheap contracts and Gasol has to be traded after this season to bring Nikola over.

With Poetl in the mix the Spurs could package Nikola's rights with either or both draft picks. Which could net them a 8 - 14 lottery pick + a young prospect. Or they could use either or both picks, Nikola's rights to salary dump Pau's remaining contract.

As long as the front office continues to bring in quality, young prospects (I don't care as much about the back of the bench), find a quality SF (in the draft or FA) and loses either Pau or Patty, then I'm more than happy.

What's the plan for next offseason then? Don't re-sign either of Cunningham/Pondexter to make room for both first round picks? Move Forbes so that we can bring in Blossomgame if he develops a 3?

They're probably only going to free up one rotation spot, Gasol's. That should go to Walker (Aldridge would play more C and Gay or if he's replaced with someone like Aminu, PF).

Walker's too good a prospect and they're too limited ceiling of a team to block him with a middling, aging type, like Ariza or Carroll, who won't move the needle.

Hopefully they can package their picks, move up and find a possible long term answer at SF in the draft. That player could spend '19-'20 apprenticing mostly in the G-League before hopefully claiming Belinelli's rotation spot by '20-'21.

Other than that, probably sign Milutinov and Blossomgame and not re-sign Cunningham and whoever the 15th man ends up being (for now, Pondexter).

Depending on where the Spurs pick falls, they might be able to package both to move into the late lottery. Mid lottery + a young prospect is out of the question though. Milutinov is probably an NBA caliber player, but is value is likely next to nothing.

Nogueria, a more athletic, proven version, remains unsigned because the league is overloaded at C. Some of that is due to fringe players eating up roster spots with dead money (Plumlee, Asik, Felicio, Noah, Mozgov, Leonard, Koufos, Mahinmi). Still, even as those contracts start to come off the books, it's more likely those spots go to wings, with hybrid bigs being converted into full time C's.

The NBA is just not as much fun without the center position being what it was.

So what's the long-term plan with Gay/Aldridge/DDR? Re-sign them all until they're in their late 30s? We only need to do one more one year contract with Gay after this season and then we have his Bird Rights, right?

Still not convinced at all we'll be moving Gasol. If anything I see him staying around to mentor Poeltl/Metu/Milutinov. I'm still convinced we move Forbes to a team that he'll get minutes on as a good faith gesture. If Forbes/Mills/Marco are all hitting shots I think we move one of them because of redundancy.

Pretty ignorant to shoot down one man's opinion. If you were a fam of Duncan, Shaq, or Hakeem and like post moves then it is fair to say this today's NBA is less entertaining.

I think if a team really wants to tank and give a good missing piece Spurs will have no issue trading him. As for Mills, I hope so too but Mills is our locker guy as well as our crunchtime fut sp far. Gasol is even more expendable because TD can mentor those guys too.

Maybe there's a way we can swindle the Wiz out of Otto Porter Jr. or Oubre if they are just awful by the trade deadline.

You must see a lot of skill and potential in them they look like slightly above average 3 and d guys that make way too much money. Would take a Marcus Morris over them though.

Playing with Wall and Beal will do that to players.

LMA's extension begins this season and ends in 2021 (35 years old) We have to see if he ages "gracefully" in these next three seasons. But if Gasol got a 48M contract at his 38 years old from the Spurs, LMA too.

DeMar is a different story. he will still be in his prime in two years. His last year is about $28M. If the Spurs are willing to pay something like 140M/ 4 years for DD, there is a big chance he remains a Spur.

After last year's performance by Aldridge, no doubt his contract turns into a good deal.

Big question mark is whether DeRozan can fit in and play around Aldridge and make his teammates better. Most importantly they have to contend in the stacked Western conference at the same time. I think if DeRozan takes a team first approach we will compete but if he tries to be ball dominant without adding more playmaking (assists) then we will fight for lower half seeding in the playoffs.

I'm not sure DeRozan has a big market for anything over $30 MM anyways, but who knows for sure. I definitely don't think he gets it from a contender.

I would think around $20-$25MM is Derozan's and Spurs' sweet spot for his next contract. He will probably take his 3rd year player option at $27.5MM. After the 3rd year he isn't really in his prime unless you consider 32-35 his prime years.

I strongly believe that DeMar will have the best seasons of his career as Spur, I find his game very compatible with LMA and Spurs offensive scheme. At the same time, I doubt he would accept a smaller salay than his current contract... We'll see.

He's a pretty decent player. Perhaps at 32 he's run out of gas.

Josh Huestis might be a good guy to pick up. High IQ player with decent length and still only 26.

I haven't paid any attention to Huestis. Just followed some of the discussion in this forum. Seems the big knock on him is lack of offense. I suspect that we have signed the guys that we will start the season with - except two-way guys. I don't expect any movement (if at all) until the cut deadline. With the unprecedented turnover, Pop will be even more patient than normal with the guys on the roster, trying to meld them into a team.

I think if the Spurs want to go in the direction of the "youth movement," then Huestis may be the way to go at the 3. Blossomgame is another option, too, but he may require more development time. But with Huestis, you have a NBA experienced player, & his defense is compared to his former teamate, Andre Roberson, a very good defender in his own right, except Huestis has offensive upside and potential, which is something he would have to work on (with Chip), & Pop to be patient with, but when the preseason smoke clears, we shall see what the outcome will be. GSG!!!
