Yeah it's too bad what happened between Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs. No one ever saw that coming if we go back to 2016-17 season. There was obviously something behind the scenes that went on and we just don't know about it. From a business stand point, you do what's best for the organization long term even if that means trading away a disgruntled superstar. In this case, the Spurs FO made the right decision by investing in DeRozan. I'm pretty sure the Spurs at one point had the intention of repairing the relationship with Leonard, but to no avail.
Again IMO the players are way more important than the owners. The owners play a huge role in the business but are not the product we pay to see. But I do think the players are more spoiled these days. Look back at Wilt Chamberlain. He made 2.5M in his entire career. The average star makes that in 10 games. I know 2.5M back then was worth a lot, but not by huge margin. 2million in 1960s is an equivalent of 16-20 million today.
Sorry bro, I don't know what I am even debating here tbh lol. But I do rather take the players side.
