He was a candidate who got the base out. Unfortunately (and the point of my post was) that there’s too much rural trailer trash in Florida that feels inspired by Trump, there’s no clear path to the state becoming bluer the way there is in Arizona/Georgie/North Carolina.

Yes, on election night all of the precincts had reported some number of votes but not necessarily all votes, and it took 11 days to count all of the mail in ballots (that account for nearly 75% of the votes in California). It didn’t take any longer than it typically does to count all of the votes, the difference being that the district has historically been solid red so the congressional race had typically been called the night of the election since the vote difference has been wide enough to easily predict the winner.

Scott won his last two governors races by like 1% or less and obama won FL in 2008 and 2012 so unless you are absolutely convinced Gollum did good despite all rational evidence to the contrary it's hard to say he was a good candidate there as it's a winnable state. I mean Nelson ran past him by a large amount not even counting the Broward ballots where people went Gillum and not him due to the layout. Gillum just wasn't a good candidate for FL whether because he was black or not a moderate like Nelson whatever it was he didn't do good flat out. All I hear is people making excuses for him
I'm not trying to say Gillum was some amazing candidate or anything, it was a minor part of my post that you're harping on. The only point I'm trying to make is that Trump has made states like Arizona and Georgia more winnable than Florida and that's where the Dems should shift their focus in 2020. It's where the Senate races are and they don't need Florida to beat Trump, so it doesn't make sense to dump a bunch of campaign resources into the state.

What exactly is hard to believe? You're allowed to mail the ballots in on election day and those naturally aren't going to get counted on election day. That's how it's been in California for awhile, it just didn't matter in Orange County until this year.
