Damn, a foot stress fracture for an old big man is bad news. That's ended a lot of big's careers (Bill Walton and Yao Ming the two most prominent).

Marc Gasol had a stress fracture in his foot in early February of 2016 and missed the rest of the season.

I'd say that Pau is going to have to sit out at least two months. That'd make his earliest possible return sometime in January.

Chance it's career-ending, though, depending on the exact location of the stress fracture.
Sheesh. Thanks for that info. Hopefully he can get back this season but I guess we'll see. I didn't realize he had that injury already.

I also thought it was funny it said the Spurs stopped it when he was out the boot and working out. Just showing still how cautious they are with injuries and not wanting to rush the process. Unlike what some have said....

Yeah that high low pass that works once a game has been out of action for a while
You haven't watched him much have you. I haven't always been thrilled with Pau, but this year he's provided playmaking, rebounding, shot blocking, etc to that 2nd unit.

He was playing great for a month like most veterans do and then regress to a defensive pylon that will have a good game once every five games or so. Save your spin for someone else.

Sorry for Gasol but probably end of his career by the time the bones heal and he gets back to basketball shape season will be way over. I don’t want to make any moves right now no way are we close to being a top ten team. Just tank like we did for Timmy don’t it up RC!!!!

The season started in October and it’s November and he’s been out for how long? A month seemed like a good estimate unless there’s an extra month between October and November I don’t know about

He's been sidelined since November 4th. Spurs opening night was October 17th. You basically said he was playing great the whole time he was playing. (Since it was less than a month)

Might need to do some recalculations in that brain of yours.

So he played great for three weeks which is one week less than a month, what’s your point ?

My point was/is, he was playing pretty good this season. You came out and said "no he was playing great for like a month like all vets do" as if they've played 3 months worth of ball and he was good for 1.

Wait, you think he was going to keep up that level of play and not regress to the same crap we’ve seen the past few years? That’s hilarious

My sample is higher than yours.

Of course he would've had bad nights. He was also playing a smaller role than last season, so maybe that helped. It's a different situation, who knows how it turns out.

Fortunately Poeltl is playing well, they just bring different things to the table

It’s all hypothetical anyway but you also assume Pop wouldn’t have given him more minutes with the way Poeltl was playing to start the season. Seems like the one who benefitted with Gasol out was Turtle.

No doubt Poeltl is, and maybe it's for the best to help him get integrated more quickly. He was definitely bad to start the season, so it's worked out for him.

We'll see what happens with Pau. If Poeltl gets hurt, oh man.
