    Fun facts about America's healthcare system that I read the other day.

    Among industrialized nations, 'Murica has the:


    • Highest infant mortality rate
    • Highest prevalence of mental health problems
    • Highest obesity rate
    • highest proportion of population going without healthcare due to cost
    • Highest amount of deaths due to medical errors per capita (this one's not even close, 10% of the country's deaths being caused by medical errors is some 3rd world level )
    • 2nd lowest birth weight for children per capita, behind only Japan
    • highest consumption of anti depressants per capita
    • 3rd shortest life expectancy at birth, behind only Denmark and Portugal
    • Highest public and private expenditure on health care as a percentage of GDP


    It really is an absolute myth that single payer healthcare would create a huge increase in cost. All the countries that have it spend less on healthcare than America currently does and they get a lot more bang for their buck.

    The tagline that "we have the best healthcare system in the world" is pure bull and it's not backed up with any actual facts. We have by far the worst healthcare system of all modern countries.
