Now would be the time for Pelosi to bring a counter-proposal that's out of the question, like Medicare for all in exchange for the Wall.

Easy to pitch since it would be giving the GOP an out for replacing Obamacare, and also giving Trump his wall, but impossible to pass on the Senate (much like Trump's wall on the House).

Basically, saves the Dems the go-to play from Mitch here, which is to start complaining Dems won't negotiate his bill, or items like the Wall are off the table.
The fact they haven't already done this is a huge political error IMO. Pelosi could be doing any number of things to put pressure on but as usual she's failing and is content with doing nothing.

Why not propose $5 billion for the wall in exchange for criminal & stricter civil penalties for employers that hire illegals, a task force that's dedicated to enforcement against employers who hire illegals, and restoration of the parts of Obamacare Trump stripped away. Doing that would force Cocaine Mitch & the Senate Republicans to have to justify why they don't want stricter enforcement against employers that hire illegals.

Medicare for All is effectively impossible in USA

The insurance/medical/device/pharma sectors dictate that the rigged, lucrative for-profit status quo they have work for decades to establish will not be touched, ever, because their $100Ms have bought and will buy cheap politicians to abort Medicare for All.

If Trump's base loses their homes from his shutdown and don't blame him and the GOP then I don't care. They got exactly what they voted for when they threw a hand grenade into DC by electing Trump. I feel bad for the people who never voted for the piece of and are victims of his ego.
    Well said ...

Ann Coulter Demands to Deliver State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON —In blistering remarks aimed at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,

Ann Coulter demanded on Tuesday that she be allowed to deliver the 2019 State of the Union address.

“Nancy Pelosi should stop playing politics with the State of the Union,” Coulter told reporters.

“Tradition dictates that I deliver that speech next week, and I intend to do just that.”

The conservative pundit scoffed at congressional Democrats’ condition that she reopen the government before being able to deliver the State of the Union.

“Clearly, since becoming Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has let power go to her head,” Coulter said.

Coulter indicated that she would use the State of the Union to speak to the American people not only about the border wall but also about her plans for the economy, trade, and America’s role in nato.

“The American people have put tremendous faith in me,” she said.

“I am not about to let Nancy Pelosi stop me from doing the job I was elected to do.”

    McConnell caving?

Senate to hold vote to reopen government,

along with Trump white supremacist bill

Senate Democrats have secured a big concession from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell:

They will get a vote on a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government until Feb. 8

at the same time that the Senate also considers the

Trump proposal to build a wall and

end the asylum program as we know it.

That’s the vote McConnell insisted over and over and over would not happen.

Both bills are subject to cloture, needing 60 votes on Thursday to make it to the full floor.

One of them, Trump's proposal, won't get it.

    The second, the CR, very well could because it doesn't just include reopening the government;

it includes disaster relief money for Gulf states—Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi—

where there are eight Republican senators.

Remember, though, this is the legislation McConnell swore he wouldn’t bring to the floor because

Trump swore he would veto it.

That’s the point, you frame the wall in the same parameters, but then they can’t stay you didn’t want to negotiate.

The USA for-profit health care status quo is simply unassailable.

Americans are such indoctrinated sheeple into getting raped, absolutely sure nothing is worth doing unless there's "profit", that they won't even fight for Medicare for All, beyond lip-service polling for it.

And the $3T health care industry, overcharging $1T / year, is simply unassailable, just like all the other mega-industries, Too Big To Assail.

The oligarchy makes ALL policy, at the prices they want, through owned, d politicians.

That link says no such thing.
And Crenshaw is a known liar.

So you’ll have to do better than that, next link.
This is what happens when your party relies on lying.

White House reportedly wants list of programs that would be most hurt by shutdown lasting into March

White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney has asked agency leaders to send him a list, due no later than Friday, of the programs that would suffer most

if the government shutdown continues into March or April,

This is the first known White House request for information about the affect the shutdown is having on agencies, the Post notes, and

suggests the Trump administration doesn't expect it to end anytime soon.

The White House has mostly focused on how the shutdown is affecting wait times at airport security, not the programs being interrupted,

U.S. General Services Administration, which manages leases and contracts, told several departments that

if the shutdown goes into February, there is no plan on how to pay the utility bills and lease payments next month.
