The problem with that route is: Emergency resolution blocked in court in three weeks and 30 mins.
IMO, the biggest issue is post-Trump. This leaves a serious dent on the GOP afterwards, or expands executive power to overrule Congress in significant ways. Either of those roads are unhealthy to democracy.
Yup and even if SCOTUS were to eventually rule that Trump has the executive power to take such action, that’s not an overnight process. It’d take months at the least.
