    i mean, i dont think the suit is frivolous. he was clearly battered. and its not uncommon to plead for a ton of damages. i'm just astonished that the jury actually awarded that much pain/suffering and punitives for that degree of injury. defense attorney says they're taking it up on appeal, likely just to dispute the reasonableness of those penalties.

    these awards are often greatly reduced on appeal, but maybe not if recpient is US Repug Senator and Repug appeal judge was nominated by a Repug.
