I don’t think he retires. I think he and the Patriots agree on more of a niche role where he takes a pay cut but is on the field for less snaps while they draft a tight end early to be the #1 tight end.

Pats skill players are bad other than Edelman who's on the wrong side of 30 himself. That line is criminally underrated, particularly the interior of Thuney+Andrews, gotta s out money to keep both locked up... they're gonna need an outside WR and eventually a TE and backup QB... can't get all that in one draft... but their secondary is excellent, though the McCourty's are contemplating retirement as well.
