So what's the actual argument about here? Is anyone actually defending this Jussie person now that it's obvious the whole thing was fake? This was an isolated incident where an attention staged a hate crime for attention. It doesn't speak to any problem this country has regarding real hate crimes and it's not indicative of some large scale hate crime fraud.

What's there to downplay? He's been arrested and is being prosecuted for it. Are you really angry that a celebrity attempted a publicity stunt and isn't getting more publicity for it?

The only surprising thing about this story is how efficient and thorough Chicago PD was.
I think they recognized the potential for this to get really ed up really quickly if they didn't take their time and get it right.
