We also tell them they can't drink beer or gamble legally. But as I said, the 18 year old age minimum for military service is nonsensical. Again, 18 year olds are still children. I have a clear line.
- 22 minimum age for any firearm purchase.
- Sales prohibited to people with a history of mental health problems (already on the books, actually, but doesn't seem to be effectively enforced).
- Required gun safety course for your C-level license (which allows you to purchase basic shotguns, single shot rifles, and revolvers).
- Owner needs to prove himself as a responsible C-level licensee for a year before he's allowed to pursue a B-level license, which allows purchases of semi-automatic handguns.
- Repeat process for pursuit of A-level license (allowing purchases of higher capacity semi-automatic rifles).
As you can see, obtainment of a C-level license is rather "easy," and grants you access to all the firearms you need to defend yourself and family.
