I just never remember it being called before the refs starting calling it every time for Curry/Thompson. That foul clearly didn't impact the shot.

Of course it affects the shot. Any contact that creates any sort of discomfort has an impact. It's why not leaving shooters enough room to come down is rightfully now a foul even when it doesn't result in the player getting Zaza'd.
