None. I was born under a lucky star.
How many guns do you own?
None. I was born under a lucky star.
The number is 22. Still unacceptably high, but no need to grossly exaggerate it.
Whose definition are you using, Darrin?
AP/USA Today/Northeastern University mass murder database
So you don't consider Gilroy a mass shooting?
I do. Maybe I'm grossly exaggerating....
I do too, but you only get into hundreds of incidents when you loosen the definition and include things like drive-by's, etc. Do you think there have been over 200 events in 2019 of the type that happened yesterday?
Why wouldn't I include things like drive-bys? If a bunch of people got shot, it's a mass shooting. You want to limit the number to "mass killings" as defined by the above mentioned ins utions, not shootings. I find it incredibly odd to not count an incident if, say, a thousand people get shot and only three people die.
El Paso has the distinction of also being domestic terrorism, and that's very much notable.
...only because:::
Trump President.
Not Clinton.
I think a distinction can be made between mass shooting where the shooter knows none of their victims.
Sure, I just did that myself.
They're still all mass shootings though. Some dude decides the solution to whatever is shooting a bunch of people. There are all kinds of reasons that a shooting doesn't become a murder. There are probably much fewer deaths these days because of advances in emergency medicine, for example. Still got shot though -- so I'm counting those.

I generally agree there's no need to exaggerate the number and definition of mass shootings for impact. 22, if that's really the number, is still extraordinary. Imagine if there had been 22 radical Islamic motivated shootings of this kind in one year. We'd have already bombed several countries.
Right. To take that further, imagine 200 Islamic shootings that killed three or fewer people but wounded more.
I'm counting all of them because the perp in every case decided to shoot a bunch of people, which should be a core issue if not THE core issue. Not counting an incident because of luck or bad aim or a jammed gun or quick police/security/armed citizen response or good medical care is missing the point.
Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth calls it a ‘great day’ hours after 29 die in two mass shootings
Fox News was running segments focusing on the “crisis at the border” and a Navy SEAL charity swim.
“More Fox & friends on the other side on this great day,” Hegseth announced.

Yep. I don't like the meme of the 249 because if gives the right more "ammo" to run their fake news, liberals lie deflections. 22 is an unacceptable amount in a country that wants to consider itself "the shining city upon the hill" or whatever. Even 1 is a in' unacceptable amount.
Totally fair to count them all too, but to midnightpulp's point, the chart isn't particularly useful if the definitions are different by country.
Oh, I agree there. I don't think we have to compare ourselves to anyone to see we have a problem with mass shootings. It's hard enough to agree on definitions for this country much less cataloging them for others.
Three ideologically motivated mass killings in one week.
Will white people disavow white nationalist terror by name?
All the posters who carped about the importance of saying "radical Islamist terror" seem to be mincing around the common thread today.
Boiled down:::
Trump President.
Not Clinton.
They are in flat out denial doing everything they can to talk about anything but the actual domestic terror incident.
You need to stop trying to be the smartest person in the room. It gets people like orange elected. You need to use your energy better. What is your goal? Work for it. Stick to it.
...& it's successful...

Did he kill his own sister?
