The Defense Department will reportedly fight “fake news.” Will it succeed?

Bloomberg reported at the start of September that the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under the US Defense Department will be combating “large-scale, automated disinformation attacks,” a.k.a. “fake news.”

The hope is that this system will be able to protect the 2020 election from this form of manipulation. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has directly tried to stand in the way of such efforts.

Do you think it is important for the military to take steps to prevent fake news? Will these measures be enough? What else could be done to stop the spread of fake news?

It's just a continuing strategy to prepare the Internet for Gov't takeover, or a sharing of the Internet with it's rightful creators & owners.

They're trying a myriad of insurgencies to get at that boundless structure of power & $ the Internet possesses. They're jealous because they didn't get there first, A. & B, they didn't commandeer it early on when ownership was still in infancy & not sealed on the land like it is now.

It's fascinating to watch Gov't circle the Internet, desperate for a landing spot, a harbor, a niche where they can be legally anchored & able to wrest power from the rightful owners. They do it well, but, they'll play gettin' it done here, in broad daylight, where they must work. They can't do this in the shadows as is their SOP.

If they won't not enough Congressional seats to actually pass their ,

they will have enough to block even the tiny progress, solutions, repairs from the feckless Dems.
