A ban like this would never work because people lie. You can't read people's minds.
John Hagee could never be a city councilman with a ban like this.
So at least there's that.
people can cite social media, speeches, docs, etc by city council candidates spouting discrimination.
the opposition to the original text is pure bull and strawmen. They claim "freedom of religion" would be violated because they couldn't hate on LGBT AND be on the city council. The city can make its own rules about city council members and that doesn't violate anybody's religion.
Hagee speaks on Glenn Beck so you know, again, that Hagee is a ing "Christ-like" hater.
The law seems over-reaching but getting christians to shut the heck up has its appeal. How about stocking the Alamodome up with some lions?
...................Rack! ^
Yes because its unnecessary. Its thought policing. Its especially stupid for people who are elected to begin with.
Lets not act like this is a liberal thing only. Pledge of allegiance, ten commandments, flag pins anyone?
like this is such a distraction and utter bull . The ordinance would accomplish a whole of a lot of nothing yet its one of the biggest subjects in SA news right now. I'm certain there are 100s of problems if not 1000s that should be addressed instead of like this.
Could you imagine if they banned people for being black?
Looks like anyone serving on the council saying people with any traditional values can't serve need to be booted out...
That is a bias, isn't it?
Absolutely.
This is a clear violation in my view at least.
(now it's time for you to change sides since I agree with you)
LOL...
True.
I was thinking a few minutes ago, this can ban everyone. Who would be left?
Read that again...
got its start as an observation of socialist/nationalist Christians who favored a Roman salute, fwiw.Pledge of allegiance,
gotdam left wing Christians left out God in their version of the pledge
what we ever needed one for, for a free people in a great --indeed, world-historically prestigious and influential -- republic, was always bit beyond me, but maybe that's the point.
it's no longer a free republic, it maybe ceased to be one about 10-12 years ago. I am still waiting for our representatives to recover their wits. 12 years on, a few are starting to turn their heads and reassess our tragic response to 9/11, domestically and abroad.

bull . what side are you on?
LOL...
It was a joke.
"waiting for our representatives to recover their wits"
the wealth, aka power, of the 1% and corps has increased so much that it will keep the govt compromised, corrupted, and beholden to the corporate/1%'s mere pocket change spent to keep the govt running the country for the 1% and against the 99%.
Im not making the connection?
opening your mouth is an action, and especially where lots of other people hear you.
Keeping religious assholes who hate and discriminate publicly out of public office is the best policy.
They are free, ie, not restricted by govt, to "believe" their crazy , and hate/exclude/discriminate against women, foreigners, coloreds, LGBT, etc, but all of that disqualifies them from office in a "equal opportunity", secular government that is supposed to serve ALL of society and without imposing the hateful crazies' religious morals and ethics.

Well, using those parameters Boutons is clearly barred from working for the city. He has a whole shopping cart full of bias's.
not bias, but evidence against Repugs, right wingers, mega-corps, etc, etc.
