Number of Americans travelling to Canada continues to decline

While Canadians continue to skip travel to the United States, Americans are also visiting their northern neighbours less as trade tensions between the countries persist.

For the third month in a row, trips to Canada by U.S. residents declined in April to 1.3 million trips, down 8.9 per cent year-over-year from 2024, monthly travel data from Statistics Canada show.

Arrivals to Canada by automobile by U.S. residents were down 8.4 per cent year-over-year in April, to 937,400, more than half of which were same-day trips. Air arrivals, on the other hand, were down four per cent from a year ago.

Trump's jawboning has negative economic consequences for the USA

The U.S. hospitality and tourism sector is reeling as Canadian visitors — who historically account for a quarter of all foreign arrivals — have dramatically reduced their visits. In June, Canadians made 33% fewer car trips and 22% fewer flights to the U.S. than a year earlier, marking the sixth consecutive month of double-digit declines, according to Statistics Canada’s June 2025 border-crossing data.

In 2024, Canadian tourists spent $20.5 billion in the U.S., nearly double what Americans spent at McDonald’s that year. Now, with travel collapsing, the U.S. Travel Association warned in February that even a 10% drop in Canadian visitors could erase $2.1 billion in spending and jeopardize 140,000 jobs — and the current downturn far exceeds that threshold.

    You haven't fathered any children.

    Are you gay?

And that number is for 8 years. You strive to be low information and childless.

the country referred to is the USA

car visits from Canada were down 37% YoY in July

If the downward trajectory continues through the end of the year, the country stands to lose at least $21 billion in travel-related exports.

    "leaked"

CBS sent it to Global and Global aired it because that be the way contracts do.

U.S. State That Abandoned Canadian Tourists Tries Again As Canada’s Travel Boycott Hits The Holidays

Canadian travelers avoiding the United States is near the one-year mark, which is alarming because Canada is the country's largest source of international tourists, accounting for 26% of all overseas visits. 22 million Canadians visited in 2024, injecting $20.5 billion to the U.S. economy and supporting 140,000 U.S. jobs, according to the U.S. Travel Association.

Many parts of the U.S. have reacted to the Canadian tourism decline in their own ways; one state begged for Canadian tourists' return, another urged President Trump to apologize to Canada, and Las Vegas even rolled out special tourism discounts in a week-long sale. However, one state pretty much gave up on Canadians altogether, albeit temporarily.

Montana abandoned tourism campaigns in Canada in the summer after receiving negative reactions from Canadians at the time. Although its tourism ads failed, Montana is proving it's not giving up on Canada forever; it's trying to win Canadians over once again, now that their travel boycott is hitting the holidays hard—especially in ski towns that would otherwise be flooded with visitors from Canada at this time of the year.
