Song dedicated to Chairman Peter Holt, best owner in sports:
Holt is the majority owner, there a few minority ones. I was lucky to be in the box of one of them (my wife was invited...lol.) Overrated, imho. Actually preferred my seats closer to the floor. Having you're own bartender and waitress is cool I guess, if you don't really wanna watch the game![]()
Song dedicated to Chairman Peter Holt, best owner in sports:
To Chairman: THANK YOU FOR BUILDING THE GREATEST DYNASTY IN SPORTS!!!!
We lav yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been a while, but last I knew, the Holt's shares were less than 50% - I think about 1/3. He was chairman of the board of SS&E and now she is.
I heard the same story, but my friend said that Pop's wife has some health issue since at least two years ago. Hopefully, he's wrong.
Hope they'll stay in SA without him now...
The good guys should win the ship for him like Broncos with Bowlen.
I hope he's ok.
Sounds like legal/divorce issues to me. He has been seen with women on road games that aren't his wife.
That has always been my understanding as well.
Probably Bonner used same dirt on Spurs that let him stay with team.
Wounded decorated Vietnam vet and alcoholic.
Thats some big baggage.
He was a plain old infantryman as well. He clearly was in some bad based on the number of medals he received.
Peter Holt vs Mark Cuban. I know who wins the look-at-me contest.
This is more than a big deal. The real reason any NBA franchise has consistent success, or failure, is ownership. It always and always starts at the Top. With Holt, you could always count on a group that was serious, compe ive and would not give up trying its best for the fans. While that may not translate to any particular successful playoff season, it means that, over the long run, an organization will see a lot if winning.
The wife taking over will help slow any decline I would think. But I have always said that the Spurs dynasty will truly end when the ownership changes. And it will be up to the heirs of the ownership to keep the flame and work like Peter. But truthfully, great owners and leaders are rarely, although not never, succeeded by someone of the same level of talent and leadership.
That's correct. I think the Holt Cat position is actually a minority share, and there are lots of 5% - 10% owners. It's a big group.
I freaked out when I heard this news but then to see his wife was taking over I figure all is good. RC and Pop are still there and Peter of course will be keeping a watchful eye on things. The Spurs have a number of minority owners in the ownership group, including the Admiral I believe? Maybe Tim, Tony and Manu can all majorly invest in the team and become majority owners with Big Dave when they retire!
I doubt a married fellow "retires" and at the same time turns his interests over to his wife without an immediate reason. Has to be health or booze (or both) and I'm sure we will learn soon enough. Regardless, he has been a great owner with his away from the limelight approach and I do hope that continues long into the future.
This is quite unexpected tbh... hope he is fine
