I always use MalwareBytes to clean an infected machine, but what do you guys use to prevent a virus? I have a Windows 7 box with Avira and a Windows 8 laptop with just Windows Defender.

I've never gotten such a bad virus that I needed heavy duty on my PC.

A combo of Malwarebytes and ccleaner always does the trick for me.

I also have TuneUp Utilities but rarely use it.

Microsoft Security Essentials, or one of these free ones is really all you need, unless you are downloading porn/torrents from some very questionable sources..I personally use AVG Free, and Avast. They both work fine for me, never had any issues.

Bitdefender. Works great. Had to switch to it when PCTools got rid of Spyware Doctor.

I used McAfee for a long time because it took them three years to figure out they should have ended my 30-day free trial, but I've recently switched to the free version of Ad-Aware. I'm happy with it so far, but I haven't really interacted with it much other than scheduling regular scans.
