“anti-Israel policies are anti-Texas policies, and we will not tolerate such actions against an important ally.” -- Greg Abbott

Bahia Amawi had been working as an independently contracted speech pathologist in Pflugerville elementary schools for nine years when she was notified in August ofa new job requirement. She could still work at identifying students' speech delays and disorders. But now, she also had to promise that she wouldn't boycott Israel.

That requirement may have seemed like it didn't have much to do with speech pathology. But the new clause in her contract was a result of a long-debated anti-boycott, divestments, and sanctions bill that Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed in May 2017, effectively making it illegal for Texas government en ies to contract with companies that boycott Israel.

“My first reaction was shock,” Amawi said. “Why is the government restricting me from boycotting a certain en y?”

Amawi, who conducts bilingual and early childhood evaluations as the district's only certified Arabic-speaking speech pathologist, refused to sign the addendum. As a result, she was informed that she couldn't be paid, and her contract was terminated on Sept. 17. On Monday, she filed a federal lawsuit against the Pflugerville district and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, saying the law violated Amawi’s First Amendment rights.

In order to obtain contracts in Texas, then, a citizen is free to denounce and work against the United States, to advocate for causes that directly harm American children, and even to support a boycott of particular U.S. states, such as was done in 2017 to North Carolina in protest of its anti-LGBT law. In order to continue to work, Amawi would be perfectly free to engage in any political activism against her own country, participate in an economic boycott of any state or city within the U.S., or work against the policies of any other government in the world — except Israel.

It's not just Texas too, but the quintessential question here is: is there nothing else in these States going on that require some attention, which is more important than a stupid pledge, or codify how your citizens must think in order to get State monies?

The far rights anti-Semitism / conspiracy theories about the Soros boogeyman and its blind allegiance to Israel continues to be one of the funniest contradictions in American politics.

the allegiance to Israel is about Jew money, not Jews, and of course, pandering to Bible humpers wanting Jews to go back to Israel so Christ can come back to Israel an rapture Christians into heaven.

Ranting against globalism is also Jew-hatin
