In the last 48 hours or so, here are just a few that came up and get ready for much much more as banks, other airlines and hospitality industry cut more.
American Airlines announced 19,000 layoffs
“It was assumed that by Sept. 30, the virus would be under control and demand for air travel would have returned. That is obviously not the case,” American CEO Doug Parker said.
Coca Cola announced 4,000 cuts
Coke had one of the worst quarters in its 134-year history due to COVID-19.
MGM announced 18,000 layoffs
“While we have safely resumed operations at many of our properties and have returned tens of thousands of our colleagues to work, our industry -- and country -- continues to be impacted by the pandemic, and we have not returned to full operating capacity,” CEO Bill Hornbuckle stated.
BUT THE RIOTS!
American Airlines and MGM definitely hurting. Coke are plenty profitable and are just trimming the fat.
These companies are often shrewd.
