    Keep dreaming.

You might get enough GOP Senators to impeach Trump, but you’ll never in a million years convince them to give Biden a SCOTUS appointment through impeachment. They care more about their judges than anything else. There could be footage of Uncle Thomas himself hitting the cop with a fire extinguisher and the GOP Senators wouldn’t impeach him.

The rumors are that Uncle Thomas is already miserable on the court though, I’m surprised he didn’t step down last year. The only way he’d step down is if really damning evidence came out and there was a lot of public pressure.

    You need 2/3rds to impeach.

I’m not arguing the merits. As I already said, it doesn’t matter what the facts are, you’re never going to find 17 GOP senators willing to give Biden a SCOTUS appointment. It’s not about right or wrong, it’s about maintaining power.

If his money was used to finance insurrection I don’t think this would be beyond reach, but moot point since impeachment will never happen.

Not necessarily. 2/3 of who is on the floor at the time. For example, whoever in the GOP who is up for re-election could simply not show up the day of. Why would they do that? Several reasons:

    1) That insurrection could have led to the deaths of the VP, Speaker of the House, etc. Do they want voters to tie this scandal to them if they vote against impeaching? No

    2) I believe there are 51 Dem Senators. We know all will vote to impeach. Let's say 20 GOP are coming up for re-election (see #1 above) and they don't show up for reasons I stated. Those other 28 or so GOP Senators will have even more pressure to convict because if they vote against, it's on the record. This will bite them down the line and they know it.

This is how the House flipped in 2018. This is how David Dennison lost. And this is how the Senate flipped.

Wouldn't be that hard to get to 67%. They will be forced to "vote along party lines" or save their political lives, on the record for CNN to broadcast to their cons uents.

You’re completely delusional about how damaging a vote against impeachment would be politically and about how voters in red states process information.

    1) A GOP senator up for re-election in a bum state like Wyoming wouldn’t suddenly be in danger of losing to a Democrat if they voted against impeaching Thomas. They’d still win without breaking a sweat.

    2) McConnell would do the same thing he always does, threaten to run a well funded primary opponent against anyone who votes for impeachment or doesn’t show up to vote at all. They’d lose all their corporate PAC money overnight if they voted (or non voted) to make the court more liberal. Cory Gardner voted to confirm ACB knowing it’d crush any chance he had of being re-elected because he knew a vote against ACB would make it so he wouldn’t have a cushy lobbying job now.

    3) thare are 50 Dem Senators, not 51, and no, it’s far from a sure thing Manchin or Tester would vote to impeach. Especially Manchin.

This is a wet dream, Derp-like scenario you’ve imagined.

So which senators up for re-election would elect to not show up at all? Be specific.

Even if that's the case. There will always be more than a third of senators on any given day. You're close to derp and Chris territory of delusional thinking.

What are the dems going to do? Convene on a secret lair to vote on impeachment while republicans take a nap?

I don't know who and don't care tbh. All I know is I believe Coon will be impeached. He has blood on his hands. Former US Senator Kamala Harris' vote will help.

    Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see.

If it helps their rotten cause, they won't show up. It's that simple.

You’re just making up fortune cookie wisdom now. If they intentionally don’t show up and lower the threshold of “senators present” needed to convict, McConnell would strip them of any committee assignments, Charles Koch + Sheldon Adelson would start running attack ads against them the next day, and the RNC would find someone to primary them. It would end their career as a GOP politician on the spot.

Idk if you’re trolling right now but I’m telling you that you sound re ed.
