I doubt it...Ruff had him in league 1 and I don't think he's retiring. You don't have Chris Paul or Dwight Howard either.
Whose team do you inherit?
.
I don't know.

League 1 was won in no large part due to timvp being aided by someone making the brilliant decision to cut Ramon Sessions who put up huge numbers during the playoff run......I wonder if timvp thanked them for the dough. :rolleyes.
My impatience came looking around the corner again on this one.
Sessions was in his coach's dog house the first week of the season (not playing one second the entire week) so I cut him after picking him up in the draft.
I realised my hasty mistake while falling asleep and hurried to the computer the following morning to claim him back on my team. Allas, LJ already took him off the waiver wire (awesome pick-up). The only move I ever did regret in 4 years in the league. The rest seems stupid and "tanking" to some, but is my master plan to dominate starting '10 - '11. What else to do when you are picking 10th in a 20 team league?
Glad to know all worked out for you taking over Guru's team, ATRAIN!
Welcome Dan.
Now you can show your GM skills.............
Good luck making something out of the non-paying quiter's team!

Oh I never doubted you had reasons for doing it.
The rest seems stupid
Amazing how that works isn't it? Seems stupid...that is exactly what transpired on the final day, with one difference, I did not leave a single SB on my bench and there was nothing I could have done differently to produce a different outcome. And my decision to do what I did was not why my team lost, and it was not why you won. And neither was waiving Josh Beckett.
And if those things had been the reason, you would have had to deduce them on your own because I would have made a lengthy post bitching about my own stupid decision. It would not need to be pointed out to me.
Simple reason why I did and do not just tell you why I did those things is because I do not want you, or anyone, to know because I do not want ithat knowledge used against me in a situation where it could make more of a difference than it actually did.
I'll just say the stolen bases were not left on my bench, which would have been the only reason to thank me for my roster on the final day, and leave it at that. Regardless of whether or not you understand why I did it.
I'd also be willing to bet I put a great deal more thought into what I did on that final day than you did, especially concerning my own roster.

Noted Payers:
Me
Whott
Mel
FWD
Alamo
Noted Non Payers:
EricB
Slayer
The Truth
Timvp
ATrain
Now let's narrow it down:
Atrain either paid or is extremely stupid because he is expecting payment for the computer's 3rd place finish. I say he paid
Slayer was active in the league all year, so there is little chance it's him
EricB was active so probably not him
TimVp was active, probably not him. Although maybe he is using his status around these parts as a strong arm to not pay...still probably not him
The Truth quit sometime around May and hasn't shown his face in this thread since. He hasn't even adjusted his lineup in 4 months as he started guys on the DL
how is there any question as to who it is?
Why does this matter to anyone other than ME? None of you got stiffed -- I did. And, thus, I have no idea why it should matter to any of you. I can figure out who didn't pay, but it's my choice to not out that person. Why is there any need to go any further than that?

haha you people take this stuff (posting on message boards) way too seriously. Who gets upset over trying to figure out who didn't pay....after I was mentioned as one of the people who it probably was (see post #946). To vindicate myself I made that post. I'm so sure you guys are going to make a big deal about trying to find out who the non payer was....that's funny. I could give a shit if someone doesn't pay seeing as I'm not getting a payout. Who seriously gets upset about that? I've come to realize that about 95% of Spurstalk has something up their ass and has no sense of humor whatsoever. You guys gotta chill out a bit, it's fantasy baseball...on a message board...chill out, not a big deal. You can't even joke on this thing without people crying.
And to say you are the one getting stiffed is not true, Alamo would be the one getting stiffed as nobody would expect FWD to make up for the funds missing.

Well, FWD did make up the missing funds, so that FWD and nobody else got stiffed. And, in that sense, the question about who didn't pay is a question between FWD and that person -- not really anything that anyone else should spend any time to try to figure out, if you ask FWD.

I don't talk trash in the league because it's a team that was handed to me and LJ drafted for me... I was trying to trade Kobe in the same way football coaches trade their star QB to get their own guy. Tyreke Evans is the guy who put the team over the top. But there is no way I'm winning the league b/c there are 2 really good teams.
This baseball league is 10x more fun than that basketball one. Nobody cares about that one it seems even though it's for alot of money. This isn't for much money but it's alot more competitive

a change of scenery is what is going to take Teahen to the next level. Great players like Mark can't succeed in that dump Kansas City. Chicago offers so much more to a player like Teahen. Just look at Bo Jackson, he wasn't shit when he was playing for the Royals, but was great for the White Sox. I expect atleast 27 home runs from the hammer this season in the park.
Thunder Dan
02-02-2010, 03:53 PM
Kansas City is such a dump that it forces most great players out of the league once they land there. Just look at Gaylord Perry, Harmon Killebrew and Kyle Farnsworth. It's really a testament to The Hammer for being able to move on with his career in tact. He has a never say die attitude

Depends on how many register. If form holds, most of the league will return, but a few spots will be open. Also, we played with 10 teams last season, instead of 12. If we can find enough owners, I think a 12 team league is preferable in many ways.
I do have a friend who is not a member of ST who would like to join our league, too. I've told him that I'd bring it up with the holdovers and see if there is any opposition to that idea. I'd highly recommend him, if only because he's very interested in fantasy baseball and appears to me to be a diligent team owner (something that we haven't always had in our league).
I'll set up the league in the next few days and open it up for registration. We can discuss the rules and stuff once I've set the league up and started a thread about it. But if there are rules changes you're interested in seeing, it's a good time to bring those things up for discussion.

There is a part of me that doesn't want to play this year, and I can't tell you why. I think it may be the winter blahs. I haven't entered spring training fever mode yet. Anyhoo, I am in still, I know I will get over it. I just hope all those that play this year play the whole year. It's frustrating to see good players rotting on benches of people who quit before the all-star break.

it's not the winter blahs, It's because your team sucked so bad last year and lost to me in the playoffs. Your feeling is how people in Kansas City feel around this time of year, the rest of us live in Boston, New York and LA where we look forward to spring training.

The transition from season-to-season tends to weed out those who don't really care that much about it.
The bigger problem is people who enter the league with good intentions of playing throughout the season but (for whatever reason) are unable to keep up with their teams as the season progresses. Not sure what exactly can be done about that -- changing owners in midstream seems to be rife with arbitrariness (what constitutes quitting? what happens with the entry fee?).
alamo50
02-10-2010, 05:13 PM
No, I mean entering the new season. The quitters from last year should get left out innitialy. IF their spots are not filled with new willing GM's they can pay up and still enter if they want to.

we should make it a keeper league. People don't quit those. And that will also end alot of the bitching people do about transactions in the playoffs. Maybe a 3 player keeper that you can only keep for like 2 seasons. That's how my football league is and even the shitty teams hang around for trades

So I'm looking for analysis on my first-ever draft. It's not for me, but for my Cousin, who's a HUGE Twins fan (hence the Twins). I've done well in Football and Basketball (though it's been a while since I've played either). I was told in head-to-head league's there's a premium on C, SS and 2B... thus...
1. (7) J.Mauer (C)
2. (14) T.Tulowitzki (SS)
3. (27) D.Pedroia (2B)
4. (34) A.Wainwright (SP)
5. (47) C.Granderson (OF)
6. (54) A.Burnett (SP)
7. (67) Aramis Ramirez (3B)
8. (74) L.Berkman (1B)
9. (87) Alexei Ramirez (SS)
10. (94) J.Jurrjens (SP)
11. (107) A.McCutchen (OF)
12. (114) G.Beckham (3B)
13. (127) D.Price (SP)
14. (134) J.Kubel (OF)
15. (147) J.Shields (SP)
16. (154) E.Jackson (SP)
17. (167) A.LaRoche (1B)
18. (174) B.Sheets (SP)
19. (187) S.Kazmir (SP)
20. (194) O.Dotel (RP)
21. (207) C.Jackson (OF)
22. (214) R.Doumit (C)
23. (227) B.Gardner (OF)
24. (234) Delmon Young (OF)
25. (247) J.Hardy (SS)
C: Mauer, Doumit
1B: Berkman, LaRoche, Jackson
2B: Pedroia, Ramirez
3B: Ramirez, Beckham
SS: Tulowitski, Ramirez, Hardy
OF: Granderson, McCutchen, Kubel, Jackson, Young, Gardner
SP: Wainright, Burnett, Jurrjens, Price, Shields, Jackson, Sheets, Kazmir
CP: Dotel
All pitchers, starting or relief play... There's no distinction, or so says my cousin. If he needs others, he has some quality in-field depth and upside pitchers to acquire a good one. Outfielders were thin... most went early as I helped him build up his "premium" positions like C, SS and 2B.
I have no idea, so let me know strengths, weaknesses, sleepers, keepers, early-trades or cuts.
Two of my sleepers, Brett Anderson (16th) and Franklin Gutierrez (14th) were taken one spot before my cousin picked. Sucks.
