if your the Rangers you have to be mentally tough and look at it this way.

yes, the Angels are coming on strong, but they have won 7 in a row while the Rangers have played a difficult schedule. Are the Angels gonna play this well all year? No.

I have faith we will keep the lead throughout the rest of interleague. we have Arizona and San Diego coming up and then we get the Angels at home. LAA is bound to lose atleast one to the Dodgers. The schedule looks pretty favorable for us right now

The Giants are a pathetic offensive team.

Not against the rangers though.

The pitching is what is killing them right now and Feldman's performance was dissapointing.

Especially after getting the lead, had he gotten out of that inning the offense might've been able to go on and get more.

Btw, screw you Dodgers.

I say just keep suffering with Davis. I'd rather they not go the rent-a-player route and give up prospects for anybody just to win this year.

The plan was always to compete starting in 2010. Look at this season's performance so far as a pleasant surprise, but don't do anything to screw your future to win this year. Don't pull another Carlos Lee type trade or anything like that. Just stay the course. Only make a trade for an ace pitcher like Oswalt. Anything less and it's not worth it. Just stay the course.

Anyways, all this Chris Davis talk will be gone by next season. Justin Smoak will be up by then and we'll never see Chris Davis in a Rangers uniform again.

eventhough this team wasnt supposed to truely contend until next year, you dont want to see your team struggle when it has the chance to take hold of the division. Angels are down this year and just put Santana back on the DL. I just cant believe that this teams offense is failing them. If the offense was just 75% of what it was last year and in years past we would be up at least 8 games or so. Its ashame that when the pitching has been as great as it has and our offense cant support it...:bang

He will be DHing and batting sixth. Doesn't make sense on the surface but maybe Wash is trying to ease him in for his first game.

I wonder who they will send down or waive to do this. Or maybe they can pull off a trade, ha.

They're underacheving now, but it evens out by their overacheiving earlier this year. In baseball, you are what you are, and the Rangers are a slightly better than .500 ballclub. I think we were expecting an 83-86 win team before the season, and that's what we're gonna get. I'm happy with that. At least they're not tanking completely.

too bad it was another solo shot

Hard to hit a multi run homer leading off an inning.

But its true, Murphy can't hit with guys on base.

The turning point or shoudl I say end of the game was him coming up with Kins and Young on no one out and he pops up literally the first pitch. You could feel the air just go right out of the stadium and then Byrd a couple pitches later grounds into a double play.

IMO, they need Hamilton back obviously, but they need to make a trade.

Their hitting is VERY weak outside of Young, Hamilton and Kinsler.

In the next week or so they need to make that trade or they are gonna lose wayyyy too much ground to Anaheim and be out of the race.

Because I'm here in SoCal I'm forced thanks to MLB and DirecTV to watch the Angel's broadcast wich is annoying and just painfull, BUT, they mentioned something interesting that supposedly Cliff Lee is gonna become available and that the Rangers have inquired about him already.

If they could get Cliff Lee and a bat, I'd feel fantastic about this team's chances at postseason play.

It is highly unlikely that the Rangers add any payroll...JD has already stated that any improvements will likely be done within, hence moving Feliz to the bullpen.

We can thank Tom Hicks for his bad investments as to why the GM cant go out and spend money or acquire talent

That game had to be a blast to be at with Byrd, Nelly and Murph goin yard.

I have to say it was the best game I ever been to. My daughter is 6,neice 12,nephew 9. My sister's kids have never been to a game before. Down from Virginia. We had commsioner box seats, front row along 3rd base. Chone Friggins of the Angels walked up 5 minutes before game and gave my daughter a ball then Torii Hunter signed it. My nephew had a ball there and Bobby Abreau and Torii Hunter signed his ball. Durning the game Michael Young caught a foul over my nephew's head. His glove was under Youngs glove if he missed it. For a split second I thought of Bartman. Wished I Tivo'd game. Guys next to us were in the club drinking some beers and when they came back to the seats they said we made the TV. The fireworks after each homerun made all the kids jump up and down. We left in 8th inning. We stayed at the Sheraton next to the park. Went swimming ad watched a movie from the pool. Kind of cool. Earlier that day we were at Six Flags. Great day!!!

Also, FYI the game winning RBI in the All Star Game has been hit by a Ranger in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008. In 2007, Michael Young made the All Star team, but was never put in the lineup and didn't play. Starting in 2003 the winning league gets home field in the World Series (I still hate that rule)...so therefore, a Ranger has given the AL pennant winners home field in 5 of 6 years.

I just figured out what my next article is on. lol

Chris

Young just got added to the all-star lineup because Evan Longoria's pussy hurts.
Maybe another chance to bring in the game winning run :eyebrows

http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090714&content_id=5872234&vkey=news_tex&fext=.jsp&c_id=tex

T. LOUIS -- Michael Young never could get into the American League starting lineup as a shortstop. Turns out he made it in his first year as a third baseman.

"Amazing," Young said. "That's the beauty of this game, you never know what will happen."

Young wasn't scheduled to be the starting third baseman for the AL in Tuesday's All-Star Game. He was voted onto the team by the players as a reserve. But he was added to the starting lineup on Tuesday to replace Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria, who had to be scratched because of an infection in the ring finger on his right hand.

Young was the Most Valuable Player in the 2006 All-Star Game and drove in the winning run last year in Yankee Stadium. This is his sixth straight All-Star Game but the first time he has been in the starting lineup.

"It means a lot," Young said. "My only regret is the circumstances. Evan is having an incredible season, and he deserves to start. But sometimes injuries happen, even in an All-Star Game. I'm going to go in there, play hard and help us win the ballgame."

Young was placed in the seventh spot in the batting order, right behind Rangers teammate Josh Hamilton. He normally bats second just ahead of Hamilton in the Rangers' lineup.

"I hate that Evan can't play because of his finger, but at the same time I'm glad Michael is in the lineup," Hamilton said.

Maddon did have other options. Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge is on the team after winning the Final Vote competition. But Maddon said Young was an "easy choice" being selected by the players as the backup third baseman.

"He's been a spectacular player for several years now, and he's made a lot of clutch plays," Maddon said.

Young, who moved from shortstop to third base this winter, entered the All-Star break hitting .308 with 48 runs scored, 27 doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBIs in 84 games and 377 at-bats.

Maddon told him Monday night to be ready if Longoria couldn't go. On Tuesday morning, Young was eating breakfast with family when he was told that he was going to start.

"This is my sixth All-Star Game and I was hoping to get a start eventually," Young said. "It's just unfortunate under those circumstances. I'm looking forward to jogging out to the line and being introduced for the first time. Going to the All-Star Game is an honor under any circumstances, but getting to start is a blast."

The only problem is he might be out of the game in the late innings and won't be in a position to provide the late heroics that have marked some of his previous appearances.

He was the 2006 MVP in Pittsburgh when he hit a two-run triple in the top of the ninth inning off Trevor Hoffman to give the AL a 3-2 victory. He also drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 15th inning last year in Yankee Stadium to give the AL a 4-3 victory.

"Maybe I can flip-flop it and make something happen early," Young said.

Young will be the second Rangers infielder to start at third base in an All-Star Game. Alex Rodriguez was voted in as the starting shortstop for AL in 2001 but switched to third base for the first inning so that Cal Ripken could start at shortstop in his final All-Star Game. Buddy Bell made four appearances for the Rangers as a third baseman but never as a starter.

The 80th All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports, in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD and televised around the world by Major League Baseball International, with pregame ceremonies beginning at 7 p.m. CT. ESPN Radio will provide exclusive national radio coverage, while MLB.com will provide extensive online coverage.

Right now we are about the same amount of games behind Boston in the wild card as we LAA in our division.

I still think we will take the division because we have been winning head 2 head vs the Angels. It's so rare especially in baseball, especially in our divison, to completely own a team in your division and have them win it over you because of the amount of games you play against each other

Angels can't possibly be this good, just can't. Don't worry Ranger fans, they'll come back down to earth soon. Once their best player Hunter comes back they'll probably start sucking again :lol

Holland is not a starter, he's middle relief at best. McCarthy can't get back soon enough!

McCarthy is probobly done for the year.

If I'm the players I've got to be saying "Why aren't they at least attempting to trade for a starter?"

Boston lost.

Chance to gain a game on the wildcard.

Damn Nippert has looked good three times in a row now.

Great against Minnesota, VERY VERY good against Boston and in relief of Millwood has looked unhittable.

As I say that he hits the batter and makes it first and second 2 outs.

well the Angels are down 7-1, but that doesn't mean shit. I swear I will break my computer if the Twins choke this away.

It's good to see that we aren't as much as a station to station team anymore.

The Angels style of offense is pretty beautiful to watch as a baseball fan with the hit and run, fast break style they play. Texas has even more talented hitters IMO so if we start putting on pressure then we will be very dangerous

Elvis Andrus is a bad ass. He is such an intelligent base runner. I can't get enough of this kid.

WIN!

also, I was just checking the Angels-Indians score, and five minutes ago it was 2-0 Indians. I check on it now, and it is 3-2 Angels. Typical. And the Angels got back-to-back-to-back HRs. :td

Let's go Tribe!

Glad to see the Rangers slay their dragon from this year. They couldn't buy a win vs. Tigers this season, and were sometimes blown out. Nice to get a win. Hunter looks great.
