If this does happen, Sjax would have to unlearn a lot of bad habits that he's picked up in the years since he was last here...in a very short amount of time. Plus, we'd have to hope that having him on the roster doesn't stunt Kawhi's development.

Still - he's better than RJ. :hat

SJax has an attitude that is built for winning. He will give the Spurs an edge that RJ just has not found. His aggressive play may also rub off on some of the loafers (Blair). To say he lost a step may be better phrased as he has little patience for losing.

I'm watching the Trade Deadline Show currently running on NBATV and David Aldridge confirmed what he has already reported, "the Spurs and Warriors are nearing a deal to swap Jaclson and Jefferson." He went on to say that "Pop loves Jackson, the team won a championship with him and Pop loves players who care. Say what you want about Jackson, but he desparately wants to win."

Stinging indictment against RJ - but nothing we didn't already know.

If that's what it takes to unload RJ, I don't think the Spurs would mind seeing any of these players go. A pick could be a bit more problematic, but given how low the pick would be anyway...

ESPN Trade Machine seems to indicate there's a restriction for teams over the cap, so that they can only trade the player alone, not in combination with other players. But GSW is under the cap anyway so not sure.

RJ is the fuck out of San Antonio. I don't know how to feel right now. I'm in cloud nine!

WE GOT RID OF THE TWO and a half year headache that is RJ! I feel good. Jack coming home as well in time for the playoffs. Jackson torched us in a game this year so he can get motivated, but I aint mad at him.
If it was a straight up trade, then I guess it was worth it to get rid of RJ.

Now we have a talented black hole with the ego that says he wants to be #1.

I don't envy Pop and the coaching staff in trying to keep him in line. The big 3 will help but he's gonna have to accept the fact that he won't be the main man here.

He did it in 03 just fine, filled his role and was cool about it.

From a toughness and defense perspective, it's a great move..Jax is mentally tough, and he's long and intelligent on the defensive end..

From an overall basketball standpoint, it's a lateral move, possibly even a downgrade..Jax has been one of the worst offensive players in the NBA, the past few seasons..he can't shoot anymore, he's no longer productive..

The hope is that Jackson was being restricted by lack of motivation, playing for shitty teams..if that's the case, it'll be an upgrade..if not, it's a lateral move..

Fortunately, the playoffs won't affect him mentally, like Jefferson..as bad as Jackson has been, it's still worth the risk, as losing RJ doesn't affect the Spurs, either way, he's usually a negative..

My expectations are low, even though he's one of my favorites..

Still a good trade. Got out of the last year of RJ's bloated contract without wasting the amnesty on him and getting nothing. At the same time, got a player who we know isn't going to shrink in big moments.

First round draft picks are worth about $3 million. The Spurs used a first rounder to remove about $10 million from their books? Great trade. Even if Buckets never wears a uniform, it's still a good deal.
