Honestly, the Mavs have already done what is most expected of them in this series (w/c is to win three games) and if they choke tomorrow afternoon, you could just attribute it to San Antonio being better. However, should the Mavs take Game 7, the meltdown will be catastrophic that there will be a shortage of razor blades in Texas. There is no room for error for San Antonio here, while the Mavs possibly have a lot of room to push forward.

I really think that the Mavs have what it takes to pull one more upset in San Antonio, and they will.

Grizzlies have been a thorn in OKC's side since their cores have been together. I knew that series was going the distance (and predicted as much). Spurs, OTOH, got about as good a matchup as you could hope for. A team they'd beaten 9 straight...most of those being easy W's. I think they'll rebound nicely and play well against Portland, but I'm also afraid that'll bring rhe false hopes of spursnation back. Better start wearing your Clips gear imo.

Meh, last time the Spurs swept the first two rounds they got backdoor swept by OKC. If they really are the better team theyll beat the Spurs either way tbh.

:lol OKC is the team that benefits from playing more games. The Spurs aren't that type of team.

Due to their youth and athleticism. Grizz did show some of the Thunderefs' flaws, smost notably Westchimp's chuking and Durbeta doing his thing. They'll be favorites for sure, but they aren't unbeatable imo.

Tip'o the cap to the Mavericks... No one expected that to go 7 games. Thanks for the challenge. It could ultimately prove beneficial for the Spurs.

Agreed, going 7 games was the worst case scenario other than losing. Only thing that can be taken away as a positive is that Portland is very similar to the Mavs. If Splitter can do to LA what he did to Dirk and Pop puts Green on Lillard from the start, Spurs will be fine.

Ricky Davis

:lol going 7 games against a much inferior opponent is never a good thing. Fatigue inevitably sets in, and other teams will see Dallas's success against them and gain more confidence.

My nigga Sun Tzu once said that wasting a lot of your resources/tiring your army against a much inferior opponent is almost as bad as a loss

Wouldn't count on LA or Lillard struggling at all tbh.

However, I don't see the Blazers scrubs/role players turning into prime [insert HOFer at their position here] like the Mavericks have historically done to SA

LA prolly not, but Green has defended Lillard better than most in the league. Only problem is Pop likes to stick Parker and Leonard on him most of the time.

Congrats to the Spurs. They were the better team and they proved it today. Inexcusable no-show on the Mavs part. Wasn't necessarily expecting a win, but not putting up a competitive fight is inexcusable.

I'm no Pop hater, but this has always been the most confusing thing about his coaching. Like Green on Ellis in the DAL series, what the fuck is up with Pop's reluctance to switch defenders lately? It can't just be stubbornness; I just don't have a clue what the legitimate reason could be

At least we took the Spurs to 7 games. We'll see if anyone else in the West can do that.

Chinook
05-04-2014, 11:30 PM
Well today, Green pretty much did the NBA equivalent of an NFL guard sealing the DT on the center and then getting up on the linebacker to spring the running back. He started off on Ellis, and after effectly making sure Monta was shut down for the rest of the game, he proceeded to shut Carter down in a way Vince hadn't been in the second half of the series. Pop pulling Danny off Ellis made sense today, but not so much previously.

It's very possible Pop will rotate three or four guys on Lillard throughout the series to keep him from adjusting. That's how he plays Chris Paul, with Parker, Green, Leonard and Joseph getting a whirl.

Vince pushed this series to 7 games with his game 3 shot......... Blair did help out alot in game 6 though I will not lie. Last laugh was today, okay? He walked off and shook hands and went fishing man. This made no sense with what you said. Last laugh would mean you won correct? Not walked off after an okay game and got blown out, atleast from where most fans see it.

Seriously, where do the Mavs go from here? 3 of their best 4 players are 35+ (_irk, Vince "99% man, 1% amazing", and Marion), and the fourth is Monta freaking Ellis. What kind of future is that? You guys enjoy that offseason Devin Harris signing and Vince re-up! Mavs won't even make the playoffs with that roster next year; teams like the Suns and Wolves will take that slot away. It's going to be a looooong road back for dem Mavs.
