This is going to be very tough to live down. Almost every strength the Indians had during the season- Kluber, Lindor, Ramirez, the defense, Tito's managing- just vanished in this series. 102 wins, a 22-game winning streak, all down the drain. Give credit to the Yankees, they were the better ballclub and they deserved to win. Good luck to everyone left standing, particularly the Astros.
The Indians choked. We're going to just have to live with that.

Wow. That Gardner AB was incredible. incredibly clutch.
Indians really melted down. This shit is over. 3 straight Dominicans coming up, so expect the baseball equivalent of chucking (i.e. coming out of their shoes trying to dinger).

LeBron is the GOAT. He actually brought a ring to Cleveland... Cleveland! Just amazing to think about when you watch the Indians blow their millionth series lead and the Browns get their shit pushed in by any team that isn't owned by Dean Spanos.

Something's off with Kluber. So many hanging breaking balls in the zone over this series. And Lindor was just awful aside from the big Salami. That double-play was simply killer. They also went away from working counts and trying to put the ball in play as they did during the regular, opting to proverbially "go deep" every time up. They were the hardest team to strikeout and now everyone is Rob Deer.

Welp, Gardner clutched the fuck up per par. I really hope we don't end up with a NY/LA WS.
That AB was pure baseball. The post-game equivalent of baseball. Uppercut swinging trying to dinger is like 3 point chucking. Ty Cobb is smiling in Hell.

There does seem to be something physically wrong with Kluber.
The rest of this club? They just choked. They got fat and happy beating up on the White Sox and Tigers and the minute they encountered some resistance they folded. No two ways about it. I hate to say it because I thought this club had a little more character than that.

The cameras did not verify, so cannot say for sure but it appeared Giardi had no one warming up during the long NY at bat.
Back in the 4th when he left Sabbatha in for 4 straight singles. What a dumbfuck.
All will be forgiven and forgotten if they win the WS.

Dusty started Werthless for five straight games. Waited too long to take Gio out, took Albers out too early, gambled on pitching Scherzer on short rest. He's not the only problem with the Nationals, but he's a terrible manager who should be fired.

You should be happy. Dodgers get a team that isn't hitting for power, that can't convert RISP when they do get traffic on base and it also happens to have a bullpen that leakier than a diarrhea filled diaper. Dodgers win 4-0.

Scherzer>Kershaw
Strasberg>Wood
Gio>Hill
And our BP has been a shitstorm since August aside from Jansen, while Madson and Doolittle have been lockdown. Their heart of the order is deadly, Harper, Zim, Murphy, and anchor by Taylor. Bellinger is great, but he's a rookie with an uppercut swing that is going to have a tough time against good pitching with a plan. Granderson is a total deadspot, and so are Forsythe and Grandal. Seager, Turner, and sometimes Taylor are our only trusty bats. We're better defensively, though.

Hence why I said on paper. In reality we know it's different, but if they played the game and performed how their reg season stats indicate, Kershaw would dominate every game he pitched while Hill, Wood, and Darvish would get enough run support to make up for the fact they'd give up more runs than Scherzer, Strasberg, and GG. Nearly every batter the Doyers put out there is a big name with the history/stats to back it up, but when it matters a lot of them have choked (except Granderson, not sure why he's been so bad with LA).

I get your point, when I say "on paper," I just can never help considering the fact Kershaw has never given the Dodgers a lock-down performance in the playoffs aside from the Braves series 4 years ago. And we know Darvish is also a massive choker. I do think their bats are better in a vacuum.

Yankees. I don't how they're doing it, but eventually their strikeout and curveball problem is going to catch up with them.
I thought it had caught up to them after game 1 vs Tribe and again after games 1 & 2 vs Astros, but they keep bouncing back. Kinda reminiscent of 2016 Cubbies bouncing back after getting shutout twice by LA and Tribe each. Yanks are definitely the real deal.
But then again, it's not like Astros would be any easier. Should be a good, competitive series regardless of who they face.

The Astros are playing how I thought the Yankees would, coming out of their shoes trying to blast everything. Springer and Reddick have just been awful. Yankees are going with pitches and putting the ball play.

I'll preface this by giving the Yankees credit for being a legit, really good club. But so much of sports is mental and I think the Yankees have had the mental edge in both series so far. Unlike the Indians and Astros they aren't expected to win and don't have to win- just making the playoffs was considered a big accomplishment for them. So they can play free and easy because they aren't under that pressure. They were obviously a lot looser and more relaxed than the Indians were and I think the same can be said for this series as well.

Definitely. That's why playoff baseball is unpredictable, since the mental pressure is so straining and you can't simply "athlete" your way to success by playing harder, faster, etc. Astros were doing the latter, as were the Indians after game 2.

Dodgers are the 2015 Carolina Panthers/2013 Denver Broncos of baseball this season. Having everything go their way and not facing any real adversity. The Yankees, on the other hand, entered the playoffs as a wildcard team and trailed 3-0 to start that game, went down 0-2 to a really good Indians team and prevailed, and went down 0-2 to the Astros and are on the verge of winning this series. They've played tougher teams and had a tougher road. I love their chances better than the Dodgers because they are more battle tested. The Dodgers will crumble when real adversity smacks them across the face while the Yankees know how to presevere through it.

I'm actually serious. The MLB playoffs are statistically a total crapshoot:
https://www.principallyuncertain.com/mlb-playoffs-crapshoot/
Knowing that, you're way better off being the underdog and playing loose. Psychologically, it must be easier to deal with the randomness of the playoffs when you don't have the weight of expectations.

Seems to be the case with the Indians. There's no doubt in my mind they played much better baseball in last year's playoffs when they weren't even expected to get by Boston in the division series. Then again, some teams have no problems dealing with being the favorite. It never seemed to bother the late '90s Yankees.

Haven't seen this buzz since the Kings won a few years back and even then hockey doesn't quite generate the seismic buzz as either baseball, football, basketball. And even though the Dodgers payroll is sky high, team was by no means bought. Outside of Darvish, all the players were developed or undervalued retreads like Taylor and Turner.
