I'm still not convinced he belongs in the MLB. I mean, you can depend on him if your team is up 7 runs and he can afford to give up three runs before finding his groove. Actually a step up from some of the other clowns in their bullpen.

They weren't gonna be close to contending for the division, but they have enough talent to not be a complete embarrassment. It's looking like they're finally ready to shell out money to keep young talent instead of trading it for more prospects.

Case in point: he's already falling apart physically before even making it to the MLB.
Japanese baseball player Shohei Otani will be sidelined for about six weeks because of a left-thigh muscle strain, his team said on Sunday.
Otani, who is expected to move to Major League Baseball in 2018, hurt his left leg trying to beat out an infield single in the Nippon Ham Fighters' loss to the Orix BlueWave on Saturday.
The injury will add further debate to Otani's insistence on batting as well as pitching.
The 22-year-old right-hander didn't play for Japan in last month's World Baseball Classic because of an ankle injury he suffered in last year's Japan Series and aggravated while running the bases in the Premier12 tournament in November.

The Rangers look like the picture perfect .500 team on paper. Three guys on the front end of the rotation who can be dominant but are somewhat inconsistent + an above average lineup + a shaky bullpen = 81-81
Everyone knows their record in one run games last season was absurd so it should be inevitable that they regress back down to the mean.

Darvish/Hamels/Perez? aren't dominant though. They can have good games every now and then but Darvish is kinda gimmicky, Hamels is declining quickly, and Perez is not a dominant pitcher by any stretch of the imagination. Odor/Mazara look ready to take another leap but unless that happens they have a mediocre lineup compared to the rest of the AL West.

I said CAN be dominant (Darvis/Hamels that is, Perez was a stretch though I'll admit) as in they will have many shutdown games this year sprinkled in between a handful of bad losses.

The Rangers going so hard after Napoli was the final nail in the coffin to show they weren't serious about improving the team. I think the main ploy this year is to trade Darvish/Hamels for the biggest bidder, let the young guys get a shitton of reps, and try to find a couple diamonds in the rough. Or maybe Daniels is just a complete retard (which I've thought for years).

At this point prolly the Padres just because I can't see the Rangers doing anything with their pathetic bullpen while the Dads could challenge for a WC if their young guys continue to blossom. Besides, Rangers have had their chances in the postseason the past few years and choked massively.

It's a mystery, at the moment. The ace of the New York Yankees (http://www.espn.com/mlb/team/_/name/nyy/new-york-yankees), Masahiro Tanaka (http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/33150/masahiro-tanaka), has been terrible this year.
While he's 5-3 and did throw a shutout at Fenway Park at the end of April, his 2017 ERA -- 6.56, in nine starts -- is awful. Lately, he's been even worse.
If he's indeed healthy, this would be the worst non-injury slump of Tanaka's career. Over his past four starts, his ERA is 10.50 and he's served up 10 home runs in 18 innings.

Just Media, attendance is still shit. But, it's a problem. They're stacked up & down that batting order. The biggest concern is there is no super team in either league to block them at default. I don't like it.

His swing might have some holes. Huge uppercut without much control. Looks like he might be vulnerable to pitches high in the zone and outside.
As you can see, his slugging is pretty anemic on high strikes, but if you just miss a few inches down, he'll punish you.

Starting pitching was once thought of as one of this club's biggest strengths. It isn't, not once you get past Kluber. I'm not 100 percent sold on Carrasco in a big game. Him and Bauer have both been flaky at times. I have no idea WTF happened to Salazar. Ever since last year's ASB he's been horrendous. Tomlin is Tomlin.
Rest of the club's pretty good, though.

I think it's only a matter of time before the Indians run away with this division. The Twins are fading, the Tigers and WhiteSox aren't good, and the Royals just don't have enough juice to keep unless their bullpen improves and get more production from the DH and corner OF spots

Hey Thread (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=19320), your Diamondbacks just got a lot better! Arizona sports radio must be grinnin' from ear to ear.
Yep, the chickenshits that they are. You ought to hear it. Assholes. Big mouths.
The only solace I have is he's another stiff on defense and they got a slew of them already. Just have to hope he crashes.

Still, they fleeced the Tigers, Dale. Humiliated and exposed 'em.

Don't worry Dale, the Dodgers are only the best team through 90 games that baseball has seen in the modern era. They'll take care of bizness in the NLDS

We will see if he actually delivers the goods. Two more games with the Reds and then the schedule will be brutal right to the end.

Almost too good to be true. This team has no fucking excuse if they don't at least win the pennant. Houston will be a nightmare, though. 50/50 odds on that matchup.
My primary worries are:
Bellinger. No post-season experience and he's kind of the equivalent to a "chucker" in the NBA in that he tries to uppercut everything out of the park much like a chucker takes the first shot he sees. Good for padding home run totals in the regular season, but that kind of swing will get eaten up by locked-in post-season pitching. He hasn't yet transformed into a "hitter."
Kershaw choke factor. Always a worry.
It's Alex Wood having a fluke stretch or is he the real deal?
Max Scherzer going Madbum and beating the Dodgers by himself in a potential NLCS matchup. Though, the Dodgers knocked Scherzer around last year.
And of course, staying healthy.

2 at bats, 2 strikeouts, + a broken hand & the Red Legs topsy, Backs turvy.
No more big shot.

Only good team AZ has now, so I'm sure the local fans are all in on the D-Backs this season. Cards, Suns, and Coyotes won't do shit.

You should have heard 'em on the D'Backs telecast as the news came thru. Little snide remarks & snickers. Motherfuckers.
Then later when the Dodgers walked it off (And the Nats were bustin' their hole) they were incensed.

MRI only showed a strain, thank Christ. He rebounded from a much more serious herniated disk injury last season in a couple of months, so he should be back in a month, hopefully.
Think the Rangers will deal Darvish?

Dodgers want Darvish. Don't know what prospects we have to deal, though. Bellinger was this year's hot-shot. Oh, there is that guy who took Madbum deep twice in the same inning when he was rehabbing in AAA :lol

Very strange play in the Yankees/Reds game today. The Reds turned a triple play and the Yankees still scored a run. First time that's happened since 2006 and only the seventh time it's happened since 1930.

Don't think the Yanks have the pitching firepower to overtake you guys unless they make a move. Rays will make a "fake run" and then burn out.

almost started a thread on the MLB forum saying the Dolphins beat the Cowboys 22-10 while posting a link to last night's game. Couldn't happen to a more deserving franchise.
