there's a chance it can kill millions.
Trump supporters would rather see millions die than admit they're wrong. That's what I'm not understanding. It more than clear that Trump has been extremely negligent and has been lying to their faces the entirety of this crisis and the cost is thousands of American lives that are being needlessly wasted, disproportionately the most vulnerable Americans out there.
Why defend him?

they have no choice. their only alternative is joe biden. if there was another big contested primary, sure, maybe.
but right now their options are another trump term or a biden term. they're never going to choose the latter because abortions

Federal pandemic money fell for years.
Trump’s budgets didn’t help
Federal support to build state and local capacity to manage a new viral crisis fell by 50% after 2003.
The decline in federal aid spans three presidencies and many sessions of Congress.
President Donald Trump sought $100 million in cuts that would have made the situation harder.

Obama's fault
“We inherited a broken test” for COVID-19.
China reported a totally new viral disease, now called COVID-19, on Dec. 31, 2019.
The U.S. government began sending test kits out on Feb. 5, 2020.
There was no inherited test because a test couldn’t be created until the new virus had emerged.

Jared Kushner Is Going to Get Us All Killed
Trump’s son-in-law has no business running the coronavirus response.
Kushner decided that Cuomo was being alarmist.
“I have all this data about I.C.U. capacity,” :lol Kushner reportedly said. “I’m doing my own projections, and
I’ve gotten a lot smarter about this. :lol
New York doesn’t need all the ventilators.”
it’s hard to believe that someone with as little expertise as Kushner could be so arrogant,
“People who have requests for different products and supplies, a lot of them are doing it based on projections which are not the realistic projections.”
he has now arrogated to himself a major role in fighting the epochal health crisis that’s brought America to its knees.
“Behind the scenes, Kushner takes charge of coronavirus response,”
said a Politico headline (https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/01/jared-kushner-coronavirus-response-160553) on Wednesday.
This is dilettantism raised to the level of sociopathy.
Kushner, “really sees himself as a disrupter.”
Again and again, she said, people who’d dealt with Kushner told her that whatever he did,
he “believed he could do it better than anybody else, and
he had supreme confidence in his own abilities and his own judgment :lol
even when he didn’t know what he was talking about.” :lol
It’s hard to overstate the extent to which this confidence is unearned.
Kushner was a reportedly mediocre student whose billionaire father appears to have bought him a place at Harvard.
Taking over the family real estate company after his father was sent to prison,
Kushner paid $1.8 billion — a record, at the time — for a Manhattan skyscraper at the very top of the real estate market in 2007. :lol he had all the data! :lol
The debt from that project became a crushing burden for the family business.
bailed out by a Canadian asset management company with links to the government of Qatar (https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/02/qatar-666-5th-ave-jared-kushner).)
He gutted the once-great New York Observer,
then made a failed attempt to create a national network of local politics websites.
Kushner’s plan for the Palestinian economy as “the Monty Python version of Israeli-Palestinian peace (https://israelpolicyforum.org/2019/06/27/the-monty-python-version-of-israeli-palestinian-peace/).” :lol
“Mr. Kushner’s early involvement with dealing with the virus was in advising the president that the media’s coverage exaggerated the threat,”
Kushner, “alongside a kitchen cabinet of outside experts including
his former roommate and
a suite of McKinsey consultants, :lol Buttigieg employer
has taken charge of the most important challenges facing the federal government,”
including the production and distribution of medical supplies and the expansion of testing.
Kushner has embedded his own people in the Federal Emergency Management Agency;
“a ‘frat party’ that descended from a U.F.O. and invaded the federal government.”
introducing these kind of competing power centers into a crisis response structure is a guaranteed problem,”
Kushner’s team added “another layer of confusion and conflicting signals within the White House’s disjointed response to the crisis.”
Nor does his operation appear to be internally coherent.
“Projects are so decentralized that one team often has little idea what others are doing —
outside of that they all report up to Kushner,”
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/02/opinion/jared-kushner-coronavirus.html
Now we know why the pandemic mgmt was taken from CDC and given to Kushner's frat rats at FEMA

‘Open-ended outbreak’:
Health experts sound the alarm on Trump’s biggest COVID-19 blunder
Health experts are warning that President Donald Trump’s decision to put the onus on individual states to contain the COVID-19 pandemic
will cost thousands of lives and result in “an open-ended outbreak rolling across the country.”
a dozen different experts said that
America needed a national strategy for fighting the virus and that
the federal government’s efforts so far were not close to cutting it.
“This is a national problem — it needs a national response,”
leaving things up to the states would create a fragmented approach that would leave the country collectively worse off.
the states are competing against the federal government for the same sources of materials.”
current strategy will result in governments constantly scrambling to catch up with new developments.
“The virus is beating us,”
“It’s emerging and surprising us.
We don’t know where it is.
We don’t know where it’s going.
We don’t know how it’s spreading.
We don’t have interventions that follow a strategy.”

Trump Shocked to Learn 3M Selling Masks Overseas After He Failed to Invoke Defense Production Act
3M, the Minnesota-based maker of vital N95 masks used in hospitals around the world during the coronavirus pandemic
Trump was apparently upset to learn that
3M has been exporting many of its masks to other countries instead of offering them to officials in U.S. states,
“Big surprise to many in government as to what they were doing - will have a big price to pay!” :lol idle threat
tweet knocking 3M was sent at 8:52 pm ET last night, and
was likely a response to something on Fox News, :lol
Moskowitz says he was told by 3M distributors some people from foreign countries are just showing up with cash and getting masks, pushing U.S. states down the priority list.
President Trump finally invoked the Defense Production Act to compel 3M to make N95 masks for the U.S., though the details are still sketchy about how it will work.
3M:
"The Administration also requested that 3M cease exporting respirators that we currently manufacture in the United States to the Canadian and Latin American markets.
There are, however, significant humanitarian implications of ceasing respirator supplies to healthcare workers in Canada and Latin America, where we are a critical supplier of respirators."
54 additional countries have enacted export laws for personal protective equipment (PPE) and other vital medial equipment since March 21.

The same happens in big business. Any large structured unit is going to experience waste. And yes, waste through people that hide under bosses that hide.
As a small business owner you can get right down to the meat of the matter and know what people are doing. But everyone legitimately feels the weight of bureaucracy. Try getting your internet cables fixed. We know companies set up walls of bureaucracy; people who are paid for keeping customers off their managers back without actually losing the customer. I for one would not excuse trump or his policy I was against his candidacy since Day One.
But the one excuse/explnation I might afford him is he was hoping to quell economic panic
Now before anyone bashes or supports the above ... of course its self serving. A good economy (more black jobs!! unemployment down!! Stocks at alltime high!!) He can no longer point to a good economy (which was already on the rise under Obama he just rode the wave ...but he still gets credit for riding it well) as too why he desrves another 4 years. he now has to fix it.
Now he has to face this issue and corona and handle it welll despite his bungling and dismissals early on ... only the die-hardss like Dale will remain steadfast if the country hits the toilet ...so lets not forget the mistakes he has made, he is 100% accountaable for those. But as a non party loyaist if he can right this Titanic and avoid the iceberg ... I might vote for the man its not like the Democrats (who i normally support) have provided a no-brainer candidate for us to rally around. Last election, i wanted anyone but Trump but that ship has sailed. HE won ...NOw i need the person best suited to fix the economy even more than i need a less divisive leader who attacks the media deflects to Obama and lies constantly.
My vote will go the democrat or repubican who can outline a realistic strategy to get the country back on track mo matter if he is red or blue ...
I will be watching the man closely the next few months...and I'm not buying the democrats are sneaking crap in to my bills BS excuses either. Trump has a chance to rise up and be greatin the face of a crisis ...lets see if he has it in him to put the country over his ego.
Are you fucking retarded? We didn't do shit in this country for two months to prepare for the pandemic thanks to the piece of shit in the white house. There is nothing Trump can ever do to redeem his inaction that will cost many thousands of American lives.

So you really did not want a leader of a democracy, a federal setup of States.
It does follow your other claims of duty. You are the servant of a man over a country.
At least you dont lie about it and are consistent.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah.
You pull that democracy shit out every time we're in the White House.

Not one thing.
I called you out and you did exactly what I said you would.
You will never hold Trump responsible for anything.
Ever.
I told you he stupidly refused to accept the real scope of the problem as soon as he should. That being said, after three years in everyone should be aware not to believe everything he says. Do I wish someone else had been President? YES. do I think another president could have gotten the CYA mess at CDC and FDA fixed in time to avoid a pandemic? No.

If CDC and FDA failures are important to you, they only made Trump's actions or rather his inaction MORE critical. There were so many things besides a test that were directly under his control and therefore his responsibility. He made things much, much worse. Period.

This happens outside of government, everyone experiences this in some form or fashion.
You should read that article in the Chronicle. A university lab in Seattle had an effective test weeks ahead of the CDC but the FDA would not accept tests from anyone else. Once the FDA finally relented to accept tests from "private" labs Seattle emailed all their trials documentation for approval. FDA rejected their application because their "rules" said they were supposed to copy their data to a CD and mail it to them.

Cub, let's step back and think this through. A bad flu season just as recent as 2018 claimed 85K. And we're decently protected against the flu through a bit of herd immunity, vaccines, and antiviral treatments. We have NONE of this with Corona. Fauci isn't being doomsday. 100K is very achievable. If we achieve below 100K, it'll be because of the outstanding efforts of individual Americans, from the people staying at home and socially distancing to our healthcare workers. Not because this virus "wasn't as bad as it seemed." Exponential works both ways. Growth or decay.
But Wingnut media will rewrite history here if we achieve <100K by saying it was all hyped up by the MSM to hurt Trump, and they'll give no credit to all of us making a concerted effort to beat the spread down.

Despite What Trump Says, His Administration Is Legally Required to Act as an ‘Ordering Clerk’ During Pandemic
THE PRESIDENT:
Sure. But it’s also needed for the federal government. We have a federal stockpile and they have state stockpiles.
And, frankly, they were — many of the states were totally unprepared for this.
So we had to go into the federal stockpile.
But we’re not an ordering clerk. They have to have for themselves.
requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to:
. . . maintain a stockpile or stockpiles of drugs, vaccines and other biological products, medical devices, and other supplies in such numbers, types, and amounts as are determined . . .
to be appropriate and practicable, taking into account other available sources,
to provide for and optimize the emergency health security of the United States,
including the emergency health security of children and other vulnerable populations,
in the event of a bioterrorist attack or other public health emergency.
To accomplish that, the law requires the HHS secretary to work “in consultation with Federal, State, and local officials.”
It gives the HHS secretary or the Homeland Security secretary the power to “deploy” the stockpile pursuant to those mandatory consultations.
To accomplish deployment, the law says the HHS secretary must
“devise plans for effective and timely supply-chain management of the stockpile,
in consultation with . . . heads of other appropriate Federal agencies; State, local, Tribal, and territorial agencies;
and the public and private health care infrastructure.”
Let’s sum that all up:
the law explicitly requires the Trump Administration to engage in
“supply-chain management” to “maintain a stockpile” of “medical devices . . .
appropriate . . . to provide for . . the emergency health security of the United States.”
“Supply chain management” is pretty much the same thing as being a “shipping clerk” and an “ordering clerk,”
https://lawandcrime.com/covid-19-pandemic/trump-administration-is-legally-required-to-act-as-shipping-clerk-during-pandemic/

What’s Up with the Feds Seizing PPE Shipments to States and Hospitals?
seizures of PPE goods by federal authorities.
There are numerous cases where orders placed by states or hospitals have been canceled after they have been outbid by federal authorities or
federal authorities have ordered vendors to sell to the federal government.
a shipment of 3 million masks ordered through BJ’s Wholesale was seized by federal authorities (https://www.wcvb.com/article/3-million-masks-ordered-by-massachusetts-were-confiscated-in-port-of-new-york/32021700) in the Port of New York.
a shipment of 35,000 masks had been confiscated by federal officials.
the county was told the surgical face masks would be delivered that day, but that the federal government had taken the N-95 masks.”
does not sound like the federal government outbid the county or forced it to sell but rather that
the physical shipment was interdicted and seized by federal authorities.
the government is monitoring large orders of equipment,
but they had no idea where that was going.
They’re on a watch for anybody ordering en masse.
There are two key issues to consider here.
One is that the federal government is telling states that they are responsible for getting their own supplies and should only appeal to the federal government in emergencies.
at the same time federal authorities are seizing shipments that states, local governments and major medical organizations have purchased.
also very unclear just who is seizing the supplies, what they’re being used for or who is getting access to them.
these seizures of shipments are at best causing confusion for desperate states and hospitals.

Laurie has said that prayer is a “secret weapon we can employ against COVID-19.”
He has also referred to the pandemic as “perhaps the greatest evangelistic opportunities of our entire ministry” in a request for financial support.
“We saw with the rapid spread of coronavirus, we needed supernatural help, because this is something that cannot be solved with a purely human solution,” Laurie said.

Trump Administration Knocked Back $100M Virus Surveillance Plan During ‘Lost’ 70 Days
The Trump administration lost 70 days in the deadly battle against COVID-19 by downplaying the threat, stalling funds and denying that American citizens were at risk
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention first learned of a cluster of novel coronavirus cases in China on Dec. 31 and four days later, on Jan. 3, an official in China confirmed the mysterious respiratory virus in Wuhan.
Trump administration chose not to act out of fear of scaring markets and hurting the economy.
Even when Alex Azar, the secretary of HHS, which oversees the CDC, raised the alarm and suggested that
the CDC build a national coronavirus surveillance system,
they were shut down because the $100 million plan was too costly.
And when Robert Kadlec, an Air Force officer and physician who is the assistant secretary for preparedness and response at HHS again raised the alarm on Jan. 14, writing “Cornavirus !!!” in his notebook, he was ignored.
The Post reports that, in early February, weeks after Chinese officials had locked down 11 million people in Wuhan, two letters to the White House Office of Management and Budget
to shift $136 million of department funds to combat the virus should it grip the U.S. were ignored
to avoid being “alarmist.”

From the Oval Office to the CDC, political and institutional failures cascaded through the system and opportunities to mitigate the pandemic were lost.

“Over the last 14 days I have built another business outside politics and will be focusing my full attention there,” he wrote in the email, which was obtained by POLITICO.
The fundraiser, Mike Gula, didn’t specify his new line of work in the email. But in an interview, he said he’d started a new company selling medical equipment that’s been in short supply during the coronavirus pandemic.
The , Blue Flame Medical LLC, was formed Monday in Delaware, according to state records. Its website says it sells coronavirus testing kits, N95 respirator masks, “a wide selection” of personal protective equipment and other “hard to find medical supplies to beat the outbreak.”
Asked how he’d managed to procure such equipment when there are shortages in hospitals across the country, Gula said, “I have relationships with a lot of people"

Federal contracting records show that HHS had made an initial order March 12 for $4.8 million of N95 masks from 3M, the largest U.S.-based manufacturer, which had ramped up production weeks earlier in response to the pandemic. HHS followed up with a larger $173 million order on March 21, but those contracts don’t require 3M to start making deliveries to the national stockpile until the end of April. That’s after the White House has projected the pandemic will reach its peak.

fox6now.com (https://fox6now.com/), will it lose it Fox affiliation for publishing the below AP article?
This a good summary of how the rotted fish head Trash and his rotten kakistocracy FUCKED UP
===============
AP Investigation: US waited months before preparing for virus pandemic
the Trump administration squandered nearly two months that could have been used to bolster the federal stockpile (https://www.phe.gov/about/sns/Pages/default.aspx) of critically needed medical supplies and equipment.
federal agencies waited until mid-March to begin placing bulk orders of N95 respirator masks, mechanical ventilators and other equipment needed by front-line health care workers.
That federal cache of supplies was created more than 20 years ago to help bridge gaps in the medical and pharmaceutical supply chains during a national emergency.\\\\
, that stockpile is nearly drained just as the numbers of patients needing critical care is surging. Some state and local officials report receiving broken ventilators and decade-old dry-rotted masks. (https://apnews.com/2b1c7d508dbee187aba31b675f8c5685)
As early as mid-January, U.S. officials could see that
hospitals in China’s Hubei province were overwhelmed with infected patients,
with many left dependent on ventilator machines to breathe.
Italy soon followed, with hospitals scrambling for doctors, beds and equipment.
Trump :lol has asserted that the federal government should take a back seat to states when it comes to dealing with the pandemic. :lol read the law, fuckoff :lol
urged state and local governments, and hospitals, to buy their own masks and breathing machines, saying requests to the dwindling national stockpile should be a last resort.
“The notion of the federal stockpile was it’s supposed to be our stockpile,” Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and adviser, said at a White House briefing Thursday.
“It’s not supposed to be state stockpiles that they then use.” :lol read the law fuckoff
“States do not have the purchasing power of the federal government.
They do not have the ability to run a deficit like the federal government.
They do not have the logistical power of the federal government,”state governors say they’re now bidding against federal agencies and each other for scarce supplies, driving up prices.
“It’s like being on eBay with 50 other states, bidding on a ventilator.”
For nearly a month, President Trump rebuffed calls from Cuomo and others to use his authority under the Defense Production Act (https://apnews.com/16bf293467703f6b4fceae5a7f272ab5)
Trump spent January and February playing down the threat from the new virus.
He derided warnings of pandemic reaching the U.S. as a hoax perpetrated by Democrats and the media.
Pompeo announced (https://www.state.gov/the-united-states-announces-assistance-to-combat-the-novel-coronavirus/) on Feb. 7 that the government had airlifted nearly 18 tons of respirator masks, surgical masks, gowns and other medical supplies to China. :lol Trash "transacting" for Trump Intl Hotel in China?
On Feb. 24, ... The next day, federal health experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that the virus was spreading quickly in the U.S. and predicted that disruptions to daily life could be “severe,” including school and business closures.
Azar told lawmakers on Feb. 27 that “the immediate risk to the American public remains low.”
a series of federal blunders led to a shortage of tests and testing capacity,
Trump accused some Democratic governors of exaggerating the need and
derided those that criticized the federal response as complainers and snakes.
“I want them to be appreciative,” the president said on March 27.
Trump during a White House briefing on March 26 claimed that he had inherited an “empty shelf” from the Obama administration,
Trump administration delayed ordering additional supplies until the virus had taken root and was spreading.
on March 14, President Trump declared the outbreak a national emergency (https://apnews.com/83b0c8e168548fd453b0c177dd1f203a).
That was almost six weeks after the WHO’s action.
By then, thousands of U.S. schools had closed, the National Basketball Association had put its season on temporary hiatus and there were 1,700 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.
“Most of the time, commercially available products like masks can be bought in quantity at the time of an event.”
much of the world’s supply of N95 masks and other basic medical supplies is made in China, the first nation hit by COVID-19. As a result, the Chinese government required its producers to reserve N95 respirators for domestic use.
“A scarf is highly recommended by the professionals,” President Trump :lol said during a White House briefing Wednesday.
“And I think, in a certain way, depending on the fabric —
I think, in a certain way, a scarf is better. It’s actually better.” :lol

It's fluid, peeg. States are fickle...all depends on how they can manipulate 1500 dead Americans a day toward the November election.
One minute (states rights good)---Next minute (states rights bad).
Yes.
Because Trump wants to experiment with this component of a federal union of States during a crisis?
Excellent leadership. How about have a meeting with every governor and give them the plan that involves cooperation. Involves how States will report request to the feds, not to the press, to get federal advice.
So now it becomes a test for the State governors and their loyalty to orange man?
Thats how to lead during a crisis, check and assess loyalty by avoiding difficult problems?
This is seriously deranged “all about me” leadership. How does the crisis affect ME.

Because he ain't a fool. He realized early on in his Presidency it's ALL POLITICAL So, when Corona hit he didn't delude himself that we'd hunker & bunker together with the dead and shoulder-to-shoulder on to the end. & he wasn't disappointed. He wanted to seal NY, NJ, and CT., and they called him everything but a white man. Now they want him to seal those 8 states who won't seal on their own. HA!!!
When you can & will broker over 1500 dead Americans a day the end/November will justify the means/thousands of dead. & that's just the way it is.

This is is a horribly cynical view of leadership in this country.
Do you think both Bush presidents mulled over the actual human consequences of their military endeavors?
The record we have as it stands now is that they did. The record clearly indicates regret and with hindsight, how it should have been done and mistakes made.
Actual admission of error and regret. But that’s weakness to you and this president and his ardent followers.
Leaders cant lead with followers like you. They will never have the latitude that honesty will give them because of your binary W/L with no learning accomplished on how we got to a perceived binary world for simpletons. Honesty should be the strongest component of loyalty. It allows for the best solutions and learning. Point out errors that are possible when decisions are made.
But you cant handle that. Make a decision, why you made it, and why it may have unintended consequences.
We come from completely different worlds. Concerned with process that leads to outcome v. only concerned with outcome.
Your future W/L count is going to look horrible if you can’t understand how you got there.

That's the allegation & determination by MSM. We haven't heard from the people as of yet. We're still living in fear, mixed vulgarly with bravado. We're dying "in the street"...CNN/MSM has conspired to canvas for & successfully obtained "permission" to film inside the hospital. I tried watching one of their programs tonite in there,,,uh, uh. No-thank-you.
But, this is not (Vietnam). This is an act of God.
It was a flash of genius to state the 100k-240k death count. The geniuses/doctors who planned it & got the old man to sign on have since walked some of it back. But, the old man leaves them alone to fidget & sticks with that grim script, laying it out each Presser, in broad daylight. Talking wholesale death while standing there hours on end the same Trump now as the one within a stone's throw of 30k.
Americans see that. His dauber ain't down. He doesn't get in (the money shot) with the running death count. Uh, uh. It would do absolutely no good.
He ain't afraid to lose. I'm afraid to lose---for him to lose. But, he ain't. That's how he won in '16. I hid that night. He never hides.

So how does this work?
FEMA (the US taxpayer) pays to fly PPE and medical supplies from China, then turns it over to McKesson et al to resell for a profit made at the expense of COVID-19 afflicted states?
Trump senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, who heads the Office of American Innovation, is the White House point person for the project, which is being supported by FEMA's transportation task force and State Department task forces. Those entities are working alongside health care distributors, including Cardinal Health, McKesson, Henry Schein, Owens & Minor and Medlin.https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-what-is-project-airbridge/

I don't either, but the private-public joint isn't well explained. Trump has referred to states "making things difficult for our distributors" with requests for PPE. I wonder what he meant, and how this is actually working.
Is FEMA distributing the goods? Are McKesson et al?

From what I read there, it appears the government through FEMA is. The only thing that would make sense to me is that the government is confiscating from those companies, who might have goods overseas, so they're getting shipped here much quicker through the State dept. They would also require just compensation, that's the law.
