I've always believed he was responsible from the get go.

But he isn't the only one who thought Thomas was an ahole and didn't want the guy on the team. Really a non issue. Thomas froze him out in the all star game and acted like a dbag after Jordan swept him. You reap what you sow.

How do they even have HD footage from the '90s? I thought that technology didn't exist at the time.

35mm film is like 3.2k when scanned. so all old movies can be scanned to HD. (read this review here mentioning the video score: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Wizard-of-Oz-4K-Blu-ray/242165/) Think how blurry a VHS quality video would look when projected on a 65 foot movie theater screen

Filming with movie film was only done on things like movies not live tv though as you usually have to edit the film manually and you cant air anything live that way. Jordan in his last year agreed to have a movie crew follow him around this whole season but never released the footage and doc until now

If the ridiculous pizza story is true, then Jordan surrounded himself with incompetent buffoons. Or maybe they wanted him to get sick.

That's a bad take. I don't think many high profile athletes have someone to test their food for them. If it was food poisoning, then it was probably just incredibly bad luck.
Anyway, I can't imagine a bunch of pizza guys being smart enough to put something in the pizza (on the fly) that they know is going to get Jordan sick and not kill him. It seems pretty unbelievable. How did they know they were delivering to Jordan anyway? Did the trainer order the pizza and say, "by the way, this if for Michael Jordan"?

Well, what I am saying is, if 5 guys deliver one pizza to your room...and are also acting incredibly suspicious peering into the room trying to see who is there, you don't let him eat the pizza. :lol

That has never happened to anyone, ever, in the history of the planet :lol And I do not believe it happened to Jordan, either, tbh. I think it's poorly contrived and whoever came up with the idea was reaching too hard.

So they did know it was for the bulls. They were ordering tons of them from the hotel in that series.

The guy who made it, at Pizza hut, was a bull's fan. Says the thin and crispy crust Pizza was fine. Just he and another guy delivered it. Never left his sight.

Yes. Almost no one from the video present

Bulls actually opened the 1999 season versus Utah. Won the 2nd game of the year (Clippers) then proceeded to drop the next 7.

Good music though.

You are ignoring all the heavy lifting it required to reach that point. The crushing losses the tens of thousands of hours in practice, the physically fighting teammates and burning personal bridges it took to Win. Instead you fast forward straight to - put on shorts and lace up sneakers stage

Durant you can cross right off considering he bolted on OKC with his own Pippen on the team. The crap LeBron gets, Durant essentially bolted the Chicago Bulls to play on the Lakers.

Kobe and Bird - yes. They have the skills, drive and demeanor

Wade - seems too buddy buddy with his teammates

Leonard - 3rd best option on your list. Just not sure he has the explosive game changing skills to draw in players early in career like Jordan did. Plus he seems too shy and lead by example type

Some people seem to only see the big picture - 6/6 titles. But there were several lucky breaks that made this happen such as Jordan taking a break for 1 year. Rodman becoming available. Kukoc arriving and agreeing to stunt his one growth for the teams success.

You're also ignoring that Phil Jackson could have made any of these other guys winners.

Phil won FIVE MORE RINGS without Jordan. Jordan without Phil was a career loser and he knew it. Why do I say that? Because he admittedly refused to return if Jackson wasn't returning with him:lol

Jordan without Phil was Russell Westbrook or Dominique Wilkins, a great athlete, but a stat-padding loser.

Dirks_Finale

:lol you really think Phil is that great? He had the best players on the planet in both Chicago and LA. That kinda helps :lol

Phil knows exactly which buttons to push with each player and corky off the court content to keep it fresh. But he packed it in for stretches and just allowed the leaders to handle it. Notorious for not calling timeouts during opposing runs. I think Phil had strong fundamentals as a player and he became locked in with Tex Winter. Already on staff. Very successful combo.

Phil fueled the conflict between front office and players. He likely already had 1 foot out the door in 1998. He could at times complain too much within a series when clearly holding the strongest hand.

Overall Phil more important than the entire front office? Not sure. I think they equally needed each other for 6. MJ would have carried Doug Collins across. Krause hired Phil.

Jordan is undoubtedly the man but the way he was sitting there complaining about how Pippen was selfish for trying to get paid while his ass was getting overpaid was a bit ironic.
