Twitter was a shit show before Elon bought it. It's just becoming what it was always destined to be. It's a platform for narcissism and not everyone should have a megaphone to push out their opinions (which often get presented as facts) with. I'd argue that we were all better off before the rise of social media. I'm in the age group of Generation X so I grew up in a time when the constant feed of information (true or false) and massive online forums didn't exist. People didn't seem to be constantly at each others throats during that time. The ability to spread a message and then continually argue about that message produces a constant state of disagreement. Not to mention the fact that you can do most of anonymously, it really can be a detriment to society.
